In a powerful and precise response to the recent wave of terror, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of Wednesday. The operation saw targeted missile strikes on nine terror camps situated in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Among the locations hit were Muridke and Bahawalpur, areas long associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, two terror outfits banned for their involvement in deadly attacks against India.

The missile strikes, carried out at 1:44 am, were a direct retaliation to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, located in the Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir. That brutal attack claimed 26 lives, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, leaving the nation in grief and anger.

According to an official statement from the Ministry of Defence, the targets were carefully selected based on credible intelligence and were strictly limited to terror infrastructure “from where attacks against India have been planned and coordinated.” The Ministry emphasized that the action was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory.” Importantly, no Pakistani military facilities were targeted, underscoring India’s intent to act against terrorism—not a nation.

The government further stated that India has exercised restraint, but remains firm in its commitment to holding those behind the Pahalgam attack accountable. Operation Sindoor sends a clear message: terror will not go unanswered.

Interestingly, these strikes came just hours before a massive national security simulation scheduled across 244 districts to bolster civil defense preparedness. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had earlier vowed to punish those behind the April 22 attack “beyond their imagination,” has stood by his word—reaffirming India’s stance on zero tolerance toward terrorism.
