Rohit Sharma On The Verge Of Breaking Virender Sehwag’s Record In Test Cricket

Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of surpassing another major milestone as India prepares to face New Zealand in a three-match Test series starting in Bangalore on October 16. The Indian captain currently has 87 sixes in Test cricket, and he is just three away from equaling Virender Sehwag’s Indian record of 90 sixes in the longest format.

Rohit’s explosive ability in red-ball cricket has been a key asset for India, with his recent flurry of maximums against Bangladesh in Kanpur helping his team post a huge total. If he can hit three more sixes, Rohit will tie with Sehwag, and with multiple matches in this series, he has the opportunity to surpass the legendary opener’s mark and claim the record for the most sixes by an Indian in Test cricket.

Most Sixes for India in Test Cricket:

Virender Sehwag: 90

Rohit Sharma: 87

MS Dhoni: 78

Sachin Tendulkar: 69

Ravindra Jadeja: 66

Rohit Sharma isn’t the only player looking to climb the list. Ravindra Jadeja, with 66 sixes, is also within striking distance of overtaking Sachin Tendulkar, needing just three more to surpass the legendary batsman’s 69.

Further down the rankings, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is also poised to move up, sitting on 59 sixes, just two shy of Kapil Dev’s 61. Meanwhile, young talent Yashasvi Jaiswal has been making waves early in his career, already smashing 32 sixes in just 20 innings, showcasing his aggressive style and rapid ascent in the game.

As India heads into this crucial series against New Zealand, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma as he chases yet another historic record in his illustrious career.
