Sakal media felicitated well-known social reformer, visionary, and peace ambassador His Holiness Gurumauli Shri Shriram Khanderao More alias Annasaheb with the Idols of Maharashtra Award on 10 June 2022. Amidst huge applause, His Holiness Gurumauli was honoured with this prestigious honour for his prolonged and supreme contribution to social reform programmes for common people in different channels across the globe.
Shri Annasaheb More has devoted his life to the well-being of the common person for the past 45 years. With his nation-building, collective empathy and social commitment services, the holy practitioner aims to develop the lives of the last of the lowest in the social strata, empowering them with knowledge and training and making them self-reliant. In the process, he tries to attain the spiritual progress of each of his disciples.
Spiritual Guru and social reformist Gurumauli Shri Annasaheb More have been doing social work for the past four decades through a charitable trust and a Socio University- Shri Swami Samarth Gurupeeth, Trimbakeshwar, Nashik, Maharashtra. The Social Reform Programme (SRP) under the vision of philanthropist Shri Annasaheb is conducted free of cost across more than 7000 centres of SevaMarg worldwide.
The sessions are curated by considering the social, educational, locational, and family background of the troubled and unhappy solution seeker and suggest simple, easy-to-do self-help techniques.
The SRP primarily focuses on Counselling Cells, women empowerment, no-dowry & mass community marriages, de-addiction, Guidance on the natural way to Farming, Health through Ayurveda, Scientific Research of the “Vedas”, Value Education and Moral Values for children and youth, Training Programs for Volunteers, Indian Culture, Guidance on Law, “Vastu-shastra”, Self-employment for the youth, communal harmony, and much more. These social transformations are conducted in the form of practical workshops, study tours, seminars and training for one and all, especially for those at the grassroots social levels without distinctions of caste, creed or religion. The reforms have improved the lives of the poorest of the poor.
The result of this education and training is: Millions of people have gotten rid themselves of alcohol and abuse, secured good jobs or are happily self-employed, women are running small and medium-sized businesses, and farmers are using the traditional as well as modern techniques and tools of agriculture resulting in more yield.
According to His Holiness Gurumauli, “The need of the hour is to carve out a strong village and agrarian economy that exists through the united colours of communal peace and harmony. It can be done if we raise our new generations so that they are proud of their culture and at the same time have the scientific spirituality and confidence to face the future.”
To achieve the same, His Holiness Gurumauli has directed an entire team of trained volunteers to conduct Balsanskar and Yuvasanskar sessions in the Schools and Colleges to spread awareness of rich heritage amongst the youth. The visionary is confident that these small steps taken today, in decades to come, shall perhaps prove to be a giant leap in the history of humanity.
All have recognized His Holiness Gurumauli’s relentless work for the betterment of humanity. He was felicitated by the World Book of Records, London, for his matchless contribution in the fields of social welfare and Vedic knowledge through various activities. Again, he was bestowed with honours from the Indian Institute of Education Management with ‘The Bharat Seva Ratna award and the ‘Vijay Ratna Gold Medal for outstanding Social Service in India. In 2014, the government of Maharashtra gave him the ‘Krushi Bhushan award’ for his remarkable contribution to farmers. He was chosen for the ‘Bharat Gaurav Samman’ award 2021 in Zurich, Switzerland.
