According to reports, Samsung is developing a new artificial intelligence (AI) function that will enable it to convert photos into films. An AI-powered image-to-video function that can turn any image in the user’s gallery into a “few-second-long” film is being developed by the South Korean tech giant, according to a source. Although no other information is available, the function will probably be included in the company’s Galaxy AI suite of capabilities. It may be unveiled along with the One UI 8.0 operating system (OS) update.
Google’s Veo 2 Model Could Be Used by Samsung’s AI Video Generation Tool
Tipster PandaFlash asserted that Samsung is working on an AI capability to convert images into videos for future smartphones in a post on X, formerly Twitter. According to the tipster, the feature can use a single photograph as a reference to produce a video that is only a few seconds long. No other information was disclosed.
The information was released a few days after the firm revealed that the Honor 400 series will have an image-to-video capability to use photographs to create videos up to five seconds long. AI Alive is a similar function to what TikTok has introduced.
It’s important to note that neither of these features creates imaginative and abstract videos using the original image as the reference point; instead, they only animate the image in new ways. It is more of an enhancement feature than a generation feature, in a sense.
Honor says Google’s Veo 2 video production model will fuel its AI function. Samsung might potentially offer the image-to-video feature using the same model. The firm and the IT behemoth from Mountain View collaborated to launch the Circle to Search function in the Galaxy S24 series in 2024.
Samsung’s AI-driven video production tool would enhance Galaxy AI’s multimodal capabilities. Tools that can create images from a text prompt or an image input are already included in the suite. But there aren’t any tools for creating videos yet. The One UI 8.0 upgrade is believed to contain this as-yet-unnamed feature.
According to reports, the tech giant is also developing a tool for video summarization that uses artificial intelligence. This technology reportedly allows for the summary of any web video in text. The feature works with websites like Vimeo and YouTube.
