Selectors In Trouble As Ashwin Performs Superbly In 2nd ODI Vs Australia

The Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has used the opportunity given to him in the best possible manner as he dismissed three batters in the second ODI of the 3-match series which was played against Australia and helped his team in winning the match by 99 runs.

Before getting a call for this 3-match ODI series, R Ashwin had played only 2 ODIs in the last 6 years despite the fact that he was a part of test and T20I teams.

Many former cricketers were full of praises for Ravichandran Ashwin as he showed that he can still play in ODIs. The former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar said on a show, “It was never a question of whether he is the right replacement. It was just about seeing how he performs in this format, playing it after a long time, and whether he still has it in him to play it. And he’s proven that. He has only gotten better, which is a positive. He was challenged differently by David Warner, when Warner kept on going from left to right and vice versa.”

He further added, “But he started using the carrom ball and picked up three wickets. So, it just tells you that even if he is an off-spinner, he is good enough to bowl to a left and a right-hander, when required. So, I believe he has created a bit more confusion for the selectors, Rohit, and the support staff. It’s going to be interesting who they will pick between the two.”

Let’s see whether Ashwin will get to play in the ODI World Cup or it will be Axar Patel who will represent India. What do you think?
