The Champions Trophy 2025 is slated to take place in Pakistan and as per the reports, the Indian team may not visit Pakistan for playing the tournament.
The Indian team last visited Pakistan in 2008 and since then it hasn’t toured Pakistan because of strained diplomatic relations, last year the Asia Cup was hosted by Pakistan but India’s matches were organized in Sri Lanka.
It is being said that the BCCI has asked the ICC to schedule the Indian team’s matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka as it is almost certain that the Indian government won’t allow the BCCI to send team India to Pakistan.
The former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has opened up on this matter and he has welcomed team India in Pakistan and claimed that Virat Kohli will forget the love that he gets in India after he visits Pakistan because there is huge craze for him.
While speaking on a show, Shahid Afridi stated, “I welcome the Indian team (in Pakistan) and they should come. We’ve always received huge respect and love in our tours of India. Similarly, the Indian team also received love and respect during their tour in 2005. Cricket tours should be kept aside from politics. There is no big politics than India and Pakistan playing against each other in their countries. There cannot be a more beautiful relationship.”
He further added, “Virat ko jo pyaar India mai mila hai, mere khayal mai wo pyaar bhool jayega. Pakistan may bohot craze hai, usko bohot pasand karte hain. Even mera favourite player hai wo. Virat ka apna ek class hai. (The love Virat has received in India, I think he will forget it because there’s lot of craze among the fans for him in Pakistan. Even my favourite cricketer is Kohli. He has his own class).”
