The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is certainly one of the best skippers that India has ever had and he has maintained his track record in the IPL as well in view of the fact that Chennai Super Kings has won 5 IPL titles under his captaincy.
Yesterday, CSK played their last league match against Rajasthan Royals which they won by 5 wickets and after the match, the CSK team took the lap of the ground and thanked their supporters. MS Dhoni was hitting tennis balls with the racquet in the crowd so that some of the fans can get souvenirs for life.
The commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu was quite lyrical when he praised MS Dhoni; he called Mahi a yugpurush and said, “Ye sakaratmak soch ki parakashtha hai, Himalaya parvat hai, yugpurush hai. Jub ye khel ko chodh kar jayenge, ek yug ka ant hoga. Ek yug sampan hoga. Kabhi kabhi koi maa kisi yugpurush ko janam deti hai aur wo cult ki tarah phailta hai. The legend grows.” (He’s a perfect embodiment of positive thinking. A once in a generation star. When he bids goodbye to cricket, it will be the end of an era. His legend continues to grow.)
As far as the match is concerned, RR could manage only 141/5 in their stipulated 20 overs and it was chased successfully by CSK in 18.2 overs with 5 wickets in hand.
Do you agree with Sidhu that MS Dhoni is a Yugpurush? What do you think?
