Hindu mythology tells of the existence of a demon king called Hiranyakashipu, who opposed his son Prahlad’s adoration of Lord Vishnu. Consequently, Hiranyakashipu requested that his sister Holika murder Prahlad.
But when Holika attempted to murder Prahlad by bringing him to a bonfire, Prahlada survived with the help of Lord Vishnu, and Holika was destroyed by the flames.
