Stree 2 Director Amar Kaushik Answers Why Shraddha Kapoor Had Limited Screen Time

Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 has been making a strong impact at the box office since its release on August 15, though it hasn’t been without its detractors. Some fans have voiced disappointment over Shraddha Kapoor’s limited screen time in the movie. However, in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Kaushik defended this creative choice, arguing that in Shraddha’s case, less is more.

Kaushik explained that minimizing Shraddha’s on-screen presence actually enhanced the impact of her character. “If we had included more scenes with Shraddha, her entry wouldn’t have had the same effect,” he noted. The director stressed that every scene was crafted to serve the story’s needs rather than the actors’ screen time. He said, “We write what is required. We don’t think, ‘Yeh actor bura maan jaayega, yeh role bada hai, yeh role chota hai’ (That this actor would feel bad, this role is short or long). For us, the Bible is the script and things have to be organic.”

Kaushik also addressed criticism regarding Aparshakti Khurana’s reduced role in the second half of the film, explaining that the shift was necessary to align with the character arc. He said, “Until he got hypnotised or possessed by Sarkata, he was fully there in the madness. After that, he became someone else. It was the demand of the script.”

Are you satisfied with Amar Kaushik’s reply?
