Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian T20I captain, has made it clear who he prefers as the team’s wicketkeeper-batter. Speaking ahead of the England T20I series, he expressed confidence in Sanju Samson, emphasizing the player’s consistent performances and value to the team.
Sanju Samson has been a reliable asset for India, particularly during the Gautam Gambhir era, and has effectively seized the opportunities given to him. Despite an ongoing dispute with the Kerala Cricket Association over his participation in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, Samson’s form remains unquestionable.
During a press conference, Suryakumar highlighted Samson’s recent contributions to the team. “Currently, there’s no question mark on the wicket-keepers. Sanju has done really well in the last 7-10 games and he’s really shown what he is capable of. That’s what we want from all the players in the side,” the skipper stated.
He added that Samson’s approach aligns with the team’s vision, saying, “Not only the wicketkeeper-batters, all the 6-7 batters should have good intent and prioritize the team. Sanju got his opportunity, made use of it, and I’m really happy for him.”
Sanju Samson’s consistent performances and dedication to the team have evidently secured him a prominent place in India’s T20I setup as they gear up for the series against England.
