In what turned out to be a tough evening for the Lucknow Super Giants, their skipper Rishabh Pant offered a candid and hopeful take on the team’s playoff chances following a 37-run loss to Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The defeat has left LSG in a precarious position, now needing to win all their remaining matches to have a realistic chance of making the IPL 2025 playoffs.

Chasing a formidable target of 237, the Super Giants could only manage 199 for 7 in their 20 overs. Once again, Pant struggled with the bat, contributing just 18 runs off 17 balls in an innings that lacked momentum. His form throughout the season has been underwhelming; across 11 matches, he has managed only 128 runs at an average slightly above 12 and a strike rate below 100—numbers that fall well short of expectations.

With three matches left—against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and SunRisers Hyderabad—the road to qualification is steep. However, Rishabh Pant hasn’t given up hope.

“The dream is still alive. If we’re going to win the next three matches, I think definitely we’re going to turn around as an amazing team,” Pant said during the post-match interview with the host broadcaster.

Despite the odds, the LSG captain continues to believe in his team’s potential to stage a remarkable comeback in the final stretch of the season.
