This Rajasthan Royals player created history; became No.1 bowler in IPL 2023

Yuzvendra Chahal, a top leg-spinner for India, has made history in the Indian Premier League. In the 56th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, he achieved a significant victory by claiming the wicket of Nitish Rana, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders. He has now established himself as the player with the most wickets in the annals of this league’s competition.

This record has been held in the name of Dwayne Bravo for the most of the recent years. However, the bowler for the Rajasthan Royals is the one who currently has this crown. Chahal was awarded the Purple Cap for his performance in this match, in which he claimed four wickets while allowing only 25 runs.

In his 143rd match, Yuzvendra Chahal has passed Dwayne Bravo and is now in second place. While Bravo was on the field, he collected 183 wickets in 161 games. Chahal tied Bravo earlier in the most recent match that they played against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Piyush Chawla, Amit Mishra, and Ravichandran Ashwin are the next active players after them, if we are talking about active players. Nevertheless, all three of these players are a significant distance behind Chahal. At this point in the season, it seems nearly impossible to abandon Chahal.

5 bowlers who have taken the most wickets so far in the IPL

Yuzvendra Chahal has amassed 187 wickets in 143 outings thus far. *

Dwayne Bravo has taken 183 wickets throughout the course of 161 matches.

Piyush Chawla accumulated 174 wickets while playing 175 matches.

Amit Mishra has 172 wickets in 160 matches (all competitions).

Ravichandran Ashwin has taken 171 wickets throughout the course of 196 matches*.

If we are talking about this season, then Chahal has been performing at a very high rhythm up to this point. Nitish Rana’s dismissal of Venkatesh Iyer was the 18th wicket he took this season. Following that, Shardul Thakur, Rinku Singh, and Nitish Rana’s dismissals combined to give them a total of 21 wickets and the Purple Cap.

In addition, Chahal won the Purple Cap for the previous year’s competition and finished with a hat trick to his name. His outstanding success has carried over into this year as well. Now, we will have to wait and watch how far he gets in the quest for the Purple Cap this year.

This performance of his could, for the time being, prove to be the deciding factor in his return to Team India in the days ahead.
