Prabhas’ Adipurush Slammed For Distortion Of Facts, Indians Are Angry

Om Raut directed Adipurush which is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana and stars Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in the roles of Raghav and Janaki released yesterday and it has opened to some very negative reviews. Not just the critics but audiences are also slamming the makers for distorting the facts in the name of creative liberty and also for the use of slang language in the movie.

The film in which Saif Ali Khan has played the character of Lankesh has attracted controversies from the time its teaser was launched because many people alleged that the movie seems to be the Hindi adaptation of Hollywood movie, Planet of the Apes rather than Ramayana. The characterization of Lankesh was also under fire as he looked more as a Mughal invader rather than Raavan.

Though Adipurush has earned around Rs. 100 crores on the first day of its opening and it may recover its cost as earlier the makers have earned Rs. 432 crores by selling the satellite right, music rights and digital rights of the movie but the huge majority of audiences is very angry with the director, writer and actors of Adipurush.

Twitterati expressed their annoyance and disappointment and here are some selected reactions:

Nehru Memorial Museum And Library’s name changed to Prime Ministers’ Museum And Library; But why?

0

The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society’s name has been changed to Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society. In doing so the  Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society’s reference to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru has also been removed. All this has sparked heated political debate.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who serves as the Nehru Memorial Museum And Library Society’s vice president, headed a meeting on Friday. During the meeting it was decided to remove the name Nehru from the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society.

The Prime Ministers’ Museum shows the country’s strong dedication to democracy, thus the name of the institution “should reflect its new form,” Nripendra Misra, Chairman of the Executive Council, said during the Society meeting.

Singh “welcomed the proposal for a change in the name” since, in its current form, the institution “displays the contributions of all prime ministers from Jawaharlal Nehru to Narendra Modi and their responses to various challenges faced by them.”

Renaming a building does not erase a legacy, according to the Congress, which described it as an act of “vengeance”.

“Pettiness & Vengeance, thy name is Modi,” said Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, who is also in charge of communications. Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) has served as a global intellectual monument and treasure trove of books and archives for more than 59 years. The Prime Ministers Museum & Society will be its new name.

“What won’t Mr. Modi do to misrepresent, denigrate, and destroy the name and memory of the Indian nation-state’s architect? The self-styled Vishwaguru is a little, diminutive man, tormented by his anxieties, Ramesh observed.

The Teen Murti Bhavan, according to Congress General Secretary (Organization) K C Venugopal, is a significant landmark where India’s future was shaped.

“Our first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was the mastermind behind India’s post-independence grandeur. It is a small-minded decision that further devalues the current government, Venugopal wrote on Twitter, to erase his legacy by renaming the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.

“Nehru Ji’s vision served as the cornerstone for all of India’s successes. The respected status that Nehru ji has in every Indian’s heart won’t be altered by taking his name out of a museum, he claimed.

According to congressman, Manish Tewari,  renaming the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society does not remove its historical legacy.

Tewari said on Twitter that he wished anyone who wanted to downplay Jawahar Lal Nehru’s role in the liberation movement and the development of modern India would take the time to study Glimpses of World History and Discovery of India.

The price of gold rose by 510 to Rs.60,210 per 10 grams in the nation’s capital on Friday as a result of encouraging indications from international markets.

The yellow metal had a previous trade settlement of 59,700 per 10 grams. Likewise, silver increased by 450 to 73,050 per kg.

According to Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst – Commodities at HDFC Securities, “Gold advanced in the Asian trading hours on Friday, with spot gold in the Delhi markets trading at 60,210/10 gram, up 510 per 10 gram.”

The price of the yellow metal increased on Friday in international markets as the dollar remained close to a month-low, but gains were constrained by predictions of additional U.S. interest rate increases this year.

By 12:17 GMT, spot gold was up 0.5%, to $1,967.29 per ounce, for a 0.3% weekly gain. At $1,978.20, U.S. gold futures were up 0.4%.

Gandhi noted the president of the European Central Bank’s hawkish remarks, which imply another interest rate increase in July, and the poor economic statistics from the US.

With the currency weakening following another ECB rate hike, spot gold prices started to rise. Additionally, weak economic data fueled hopes for a future Fed policy that was less aggressive, according to ICICI Securities.

“Spot gold is anticipated to sustain support near $1950 levels and increase further to $1975 in the face of dollar weakness and ahead of important US economic data. Additionally, weak US economic data fueled investor predictions that the Fed’s campaign of rate hikes was about to come to a close. As long as it remains above 59250, MCX gold is projected to climb north towards 59650 levels, it continued.

Silver was down at USD 25.45 per ounce while gold was trading higher at USD 2,024 per ounce on the international market.

According to Sriram Iyer on Tuesday, Senior Research Analyst at Reliance Securities as investor’s awaited crucial US inflation figures this week that may have an impact on the Fed’s decision to raise interest rates, Comex gold prices rose throughout the Asian trading session.

This Indian court created history, used ChatGPT for the first time in bail hearing of murder, rioting accused

An Indian court used OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot to assess global perspectives on “bail jurisprudence.” The chatbot was used to assist in the bail hearing of Jaswinder Singh.

Earlier this week, for the time a  court in India used artificial intelligence to decide on the bail appeal of an accused and it dismissed the petition.
On Tuesday, the bench led by Anoop Chitkara, at the Punjab Haryana High Court, asked for Chat GPT’s  response while hearing the bail appeal of a suspect arrested in June 2020 for suspected murder, rioting, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy.

Justice Chitkara evaluated the response from Chat GPT and dismissed the bail appeal of the suspect on the basis of his experiences and decisions given previously.
According to Justice Chitkara, “To cause death is itself a cruel act. However, the situation changes, if cruelty results in death. When a physical attack is done brutally, the bail parameters also change”.

The court, clearly said Any reference to ChatGPT and all the observations made, is just done to present a broader image on bail jurisprudence, where cruelty is a factor”.

In response to the court’s use of ChatGPT, a high court attorney Saurav called It is a good step.

He said, it can have negative as well as positive impact, which will be decided in the future. He also said that AI is not a threat to the jobs of attorneys, it can only be used as a tool”.

Meet the IIT Bombay grads whose sustainable farming startup grows food on large scale while saving 80% water

0

Amit Kumar and his friend Abhay Singh co-founded Eeki Foods, a sustainable farming startup. Using hydroponics, the company grows food on a large scale, saving 80% water and 75% faster than that done traditionally.

Amit Kumar and Abhay Singh, who both graduated from IIT Bombay, say that 80 per cent wastage of water can be saved with their technique, with a growth rate of 75%  faster than conventional methods. The two friends possess 7 acres of farms in Kota district (Rajasthan),  Bundi district (Rajasthan), and Panipat (Haryana), while another 33 acres of land is being built.

Amit and Abhay have created a medium-less way of farming which assists in growing vegetables in a controlled environment. The two are making crores of rupees, annually.

Eeki Foods is a farm that makes use of medium-less way of farming to grow fruits and vegetables in an empty room in a controlled environment. The technique helps in saving 80% of water which would otherwise go to waste. The process requires to fill a vacant chamber with 70% humidity and spraying the roots with the necessary nutrients.

The roots hang in the air without any medium,  but with support, and the plant keeps growing. One acre of land yields a monthly 13,500 kg of tomatoes.

The vegetables that Eeki Foods has been growing include cucumber, tomato, chilli, eggplant, pepper, spinach, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, and coriander, and fruits such as watermelons and musk melons. Farm manager at Eeki Foods, Amit, explained the advantage  of switching to their organic farming method. He says that organic farming cuts the cost, but also decreases the yield, lowering the farmer’s profits.

Manish Kumar, who also works as farm manager at Eeki Foods, says that the technique is amazing and can provide produce all through the year regardless the fruiting season. As the food grows in a controlled environment inside the chamber, Eeki Foods can suppy fruits and vegetables irrespective of their fruiting season.

Abhay and Amit’s farming method is  sustainable and can be used to grow food in all terrains. They have been able to achieve this by growing food with no medium while guaranteeing less wastage. To yield 1% of the required tomatoes,  20,000 acres of fertile land is needed. However, their technique enables them to produce the same on 16,000 acres, and that too on barren land.
