When you attempt to withdraw money from an ATM machine, currency notes are dispensed by inserting the ATM card. However, not just money notes, but also coins, will be issued by the ATM. Following the conclusion of the three-day RBI MPC meeting on Wednesday, Governor Shaktikanta Das announced the beginning of a pilot project of QR-based coin vending machines, as well as a hike in the repo rate for the sixth straight time.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that the central bank will conduct a pilot project for QR-enabled vending machines. Its goal is to make coins more widely available. He stated that the Reserve Bank will begin it in 12 locations throughout the country in the initial phase. These QR code-based vending machines will be operated by UPI and will deliver coins rather than notes. However, the names of the 12 cities chosen for this experimental initiative have not been revealed.

Any consumer may withdraw coins from these Coin Vending Machines by scanning the QR Code on the machine’s top with his UPI app. The number of coins that the consumer withdraws will be deducted from his registered bank account. It will be expanded based on the success of this pilot initiative, which will begin in 12 cities.

Emotion AI startup Entropik receives $25M investment

Entropik has raised $25 million in Series B funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners in order to consolidate its various tools into a single platform.

Entropik, an AI-based online market research business, has secured $25 million in a Series B fundraising round headed by Bessemer Venture Partners.

SIG Venture Capital, Trifecta Capital, Alteria Capital, and returning investor Bharat Innovation Fund are among the other investors.

According to creator and CEO Ranjan Kumar, about $3.5 million of the investment was loan financing. He would not provide Entropik’s post-funding worth.

Kumar told that the new cash will be used to unify the company’s numerous products into a single platform.

The startup, which was formed in Bengaluru in 2016, has so far raised around $35 million.

It claimed to have more than sevenfolded its topline in the previous two years, owing to its unique Emotion AI technology and growth into the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Entropik’s research platform is used by over 150 worldwide businesses in finance, media, consumer goods, foods and beverages, and entertainment. It combines quantitative surveys, qualitative research, online panels, and unique emotion AI technologies that leverage webcam, voice, and eye movement.

Entropik’s team of 217 employees uses its aggregated base of 60 million customers across 120 countries to meet the marketing and product demands of its clientele.

Previously, IIT-Kharagpur graduates co-founded two more firms, Red Castle and OyeParty.

Entropik generates over 70% of its sales in the United States and Europe, with the remainder coming from India and Southeast Asia. Hume AI, situated in New York, is a global competitor in Entropik’s domain.

1. Born on August 2, 1947, in Raipur, Madhya Pradesh, Ramesh Bais completed his higher secondary education at BSE, Bhopal. He was first elected to the Municipal Corporation of Raipur in 1978. In 1980, Bais won the MP Assembly election from Mandir Hasod Constituency but lost the seat in the 1985 election to Congress’ Satyanarayan Sharma.

2. In 1989, he was elected for the first time to the Indian parliament as a member of the 9th Lok Sabha from Raipur and was re-elected consecutively from 1996 to the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th,15th, and 16th Lok Sabha.

3. Bais has also served as the Union minister of state in the second and third Vajpayee ministry holding several portfolios – Steel, Mines, Chemicals and Fertilizers, Information and Broadcasting, and also Minister of State (Independent charge) for Mines and Environment and Forests till May 2004.

4. He served as the Governor of Tripura from July 2019 to July 2021 – succeeding Kaptan Singh Solanki. Since July 14, 2021, he has been serving as the 10th Governor of Jharkhand.

5. Bais is married to Rambai Bais and they have two daughters and a son.
