The much-anticipated trailer of ‘Dhadak 2’ has finally dropped, two years after the film was first announced. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, this spiritual sequel to the 2018 romantic drama Dhadak brings a fresh and powerful take on love, identity, and social discrimination.
Directed by Shazia Iqbal and co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Dhadak 2 moves beyond the surface of romance to explore caste, power dynamics, and the emotional cost of forbidden love. While the first Dhadak introduced Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, this new version promises a more politically and emotionally charged narrative.
A Love Story Born in Law School
The film follows two law students, played by Siddhant and Triptii, as they navigate love amidst deep-rooted societal barriers. The trailer opens with a heart-wrenching conversation between the two.
“Tum mujhse pyaar karti ho na?” Siddhant asks. “Toh mujhse door raho.” (You love me, right? Then stay away from me.), Triptii responds, hurt and confused, “Kyu door rahu?”, (Why should I?) “Kyuki saath rehna itna aasaan nahi jitna tumhe lagta hai.” (Being together isn’t as easy as you think.) She challenges him, saying, “It’s also not as hard as you think it is.”
Romance Meets Reality
From their innocent college bond over Siddhant’s broken English, the story shifts into a harsh reality. His lower-caste identity becomes a source of ridicule, spiraling into political conflict and social tension.
In one scene, Triptii says with disbelief, “I thought all of this was in the past.”Siddhant quietly replies, “Vidhi, those who never experience it always say that.”
Their love becomes a battleground between generations of prejudice and the hope for change. The trailer poses a powerful question:
Is love stronger than caste?
Strong Performances and Impactful Cast
The teaser showcases brilliant chemistry between the lead pair. Also starring Ashwant Lodhi, Manjiri Pupala, Deeksha Joshi, Priyank Tiwari, Amit Jaat, Mayank Khanna, and Vipin Sharma, the film promises a gripping, emotionally layered experience.
