Nushrratt Bharuccha Was Rejected For Latika’s Role In Slumdog Millionaire Because….

Long before she became a familiar face in Hindi cinema, Nushrratt Bharuccha came close to stepping onto an international stage in one of the most acclaimed films of its time. She was in the running for the role of Latika in Slumdog Millionaire, the 2008 Oscar-winning drama that propelled Freida Pinto to fame. But to her surprise, the reason she was eventually not chosen had little to do with her acting skills and everything to do with her appearance. She was told, quite unexpectedly, that she was “too pretty” for the role.

Reflecting on the moment in a recent interview, Nushrratt admitted that she was initially bewildered by the feedback. Hearing it over the phone, she struggled to make sense of the reasoning, especially coming from a team operating on such a prestigious international project. Still, she chose to respond with grace, assuming the casting team had a vision she perhaps couldn’t yet understand. The rejection was difficult to process, not because of ego, but because the logic behind it felt elusive.

It was only later, after watching the film, that things began to make more sense. The narrative arc, which follows a young girl from the gritty realities of a Mumbai slum to adulthood, required a transformation that needed to feel organic. Nushrratt Bharuccha acknowledged that the portrayal of Latika across different ages had to be believable, and in hindsight, she felt the casting was well-aligned with the story’s tone. Looking at the younger versions of the character, she understood why the filmmakers felt her look might disrupt the film’s realism.

While missing out on Slumdog Millionaire may have seemed like a lost opportunity at the time, Nushrratt has since carved out a space for herself in the Indian film industry, known for her roles in films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, and Chhorii. Her journey, marked by a mix of near-misses and breakthrough hits, continues to evolve—proving that sometimes, the right role comes not just at the right time, but with the right reason.

Shweta Tiwari’s Ex Raja Chaudhary Opens Up On His Relation With His Daughter Palak Tiwari

Raja Chaudhary, once known more for the controversies surrounding his personal life than his on-screen roles, is now rewriting his story—one grounded in growth, sobriety, and rekindled relationships. In a recent interview, he opened up about his evolving bond with his daughter Palak Tiwari and how the support of his family helped him overcome his struggles with alcohol.

His marriage to popular actress Shweta Tiwari began in 1998 and lasted nearly a decade. Their union, however, ended in 2007 following serious allegations of domestic abuse and alcohol dependency, which Shweta cited as the primary reasons for the split. The separation led to Shweta raising their daughter, Palak, on her own.

Years later, the once-estranged father now shares a cautiously warm connection with Palak. Despite their physical distance and her demanding career in the entertainment industry, Raja shared that they manage to stay in touch whenever possible, expressing deep pride in her accomplishments and growth as a young woman carving her own space in Bollywood.

While his personal journey has been tumultuous, Raja has kept himself in the public eye through a mix of television roles and reality show appearances. His breakout moment came during his time as the runner-up on Bigg Boss season 2, followed by his participation in Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout. Over the years, he has also taken on roles in several Hindi and Bhojpuri TV series, including Chandramukhi, Daddy Samjha Karo, Your Honour, and more recently, Tenali Rama, where he portrays Chaudapa Raya.

Meanwhile, Palak Tiwari has grown from being a celebrity child to a rising star. Her entry into showbiz was marked by the hit music video Bijlee Bijlee with Harrdy Sandhu, followed by her Bollywood debut in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan opposite Salman Khan. She is now gearing up for the release of The Bhootnii, a horror-comedy also featuring Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy and Sunny Singh, set to premiere on May 1.

The road to reconciliation hasn’t been simple, but Raja Chaudhary’s reflections reveal a man learning from his past and trying to forge a better future—not just for himself, but also for the bond he shares with his daughter.

CCS Suspends Indus Waters Treaty, Closes Wagah Border After Pahalgam Terror Attack

0

Following the horrifying terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people, India’s Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has suspended the historic Indus Waters Treaty. This decision comes in response to investigations linking the attack to cross-border (Pakistan-based) elements.

What is the Indus Waters Treaty

For those unaware, the Indus Waters Treaty, signed in 1960, is a water-sharing agreement mediated by the World Bank. Despite multiple conflicts between India and Pakistan—including wars in 1965, 1971, and 1999 the treaty has endured as a rare example of cooperation between the two nations.

Its suspension marks a major shift in diplomatic relations. India will now deny Pakistan access to water from the Indus River and its key tributaries: the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej. These rivers are vital to Pakistan’s agriculture and water supply, and the move is expected to impact millions.

Attari-Wagah Integrated Check Post Closure

Alongside the treaty suspension, India has also closed the Attari-Wagah Integrated Check Post. Pakistani nationals in India with valid documents have been instructed to leave the country through this border crossing by May 1, 2025. After that, the post will remain closed indefinitely.

Additionally, all SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) visas issued to Pakistani nationals have been rendered invalid. A 48-hour window has been given for affected individuals to exit the country.

Diplomatic Ties Severed

In a further step, India has decided to cut diplomatic ties with Pakistan. Military advisors including naval and air force officers stationed at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi have been asked to leave within a week. Similarly, Indian military personnel posted in Islamabad will be recalled.

Both countries will reduce their diplomatic teams from 55 to 30 members each, signaling a significant downgrade in bilateral relations.

As these measures unfold, all security agencies have been placed on high alert across the nation.

“He Was Very Frustrated”, Ex-Ind Cricketer Slams LSG For Sending Rishabh Pant To Bat At No.7

0

Rishabh Pant, captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, found himself at the center of controversy during their clash against his former team, the Delhi Capitals. In a surprising turn of events, Pant was involved in a visibly tense exchange with team mentor Zaheer Khan on the sidelines — a moment that sparked speculation and concern among fans and cricket pundits alike.

The root of the drama lay in a puzzling tactical move. With Lucknow cruising at 99/2 following the dismissal of Nicholas Pooran in the 12th over, all eyes were on Pant to take charge at No. 4. Instead, the team sent in Abdul Samad — a decision that baffled many and altered the game’s momentum.

While some suggested the strategy was aimed at maintaining a right-left batting combination, it fell flat as right-handed Samad replaced the left-handed Pooran. Veteran coach and former India captain Anil Kumble voiced strong disapproval of the move on a sports channel, noting, “It’s alright if you wanted to bat more freely under less pressure by coming in late, but this was way too late. The kind of frustration Rishabh is showing is evident that he was wronged.”

Kumble further questioned the decision-making hierarchy within the team, adding, “He (Pant) probably wanted to bat higher. Was it his decision? Or was it coach Justin Langer’s or maybe mentor Zaheer Khan’s? Whose decision was it? Because he looked very frustrated.”

Pant, demoted to No. 7, faced only two deliveries and failed to score. The team stumbled to a modest 159/6, with Samad contributing just two runs off eight balls. Post-match, a clearly dejected Pant attempted to justify the shuffle: “The idea was to like capitalise… Eventually, these are the things we’ve got to figure out and try to find our best combination going forward.”

However, his explanation did little to mask the visible disappointment — both in his words and his demeanor.

Sooraj Barjatya Reveals If He Will Cast Salman Khan In Maine Pyar Kiya 2 Or Not

Sooraj Barjatya, the man behind some of Bollywood’s most cherished family dramas, has opened up about the enduring legacy of his blockbuster hits Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Maine Pyar Kiya. These films didn’t just dominate the box office — they helped shape a generation’s idea of love, family, and celebration on screen. With Salman Khan at the heart of both, paired with Madhuri Dixit and Bhagyashree respectively, the movies remain timeless classics. But fans hoping to see the magic recreated in a sequel may be in for a disappointment.

In a recent interview, Barjatya clarified that while his bond with the stars remains strong, a direct sequel with the same cast is off the table. “I would not want to make a sequel with them, and even if I were offered to make a sequel to Maine Pyar Kiya, it would have a fresh cast,” he said, making it clear that his vision for storytelling evolves with time.

Despite that, the affection and admiration he holds for Salman Khan remain unchanged. He fondly described the actor’s grounded nature, adding, “Salman and I share the same level of friendship even after so many years. He might be a star for the masses and puts up that persona, but at heart, he is a simple guy who likes to sit outside the vanity van in a chair and interact with the crew.”

Barjatya, known for prioritizing the emotional integrity of his stories, also expressed a readiness to collaborate with Salman and Madhuri again — but only if the right script comes along. “If there is a good script with characters that suit them, I would work with Salman and Madhuri. One wants to work with stars, but I have always believed that a good script is bigger than anything else. After reaching a certain age, you trust a good film more than a star.”

In his words, the essence of filmmaking lies not in chasing star power, but in the strength of the story being told — a philosophy that has defined Barjatya’s cinematic journey from the beginning, and continues to guide it even today.

Shah Rukh Khan Is Sad & Angry After Pahalgam Attack, Writes A Heart-Touching Message

In the wake of the devastating terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Shah Rukh Khan has come forward with a powerful message that echoes the grief and fury felt across the nation. Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, SRK shared his anguish over the brutal violence that claimed the lives of innocent tourists.

His message was one of sorrow, solidarity, and hope for justice. “Words fail to express the sadness and anger at the treachery and inhumane act of violence that has occurred in Pahalgam. In times like these, one can only turn to God and say a prayer for the families that suffered and express my deepest condolences. May we as a Nation, stand united, strong and get justice against this heinous act,” he wrote.

The horror unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when gunmen believed to be affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba launched a surprise assault on a group of tourists in the serene Baisaran Meadows of Pahalgam. Dressed in military fatigues, the attackers opened fire indiscriminately, killing around 27 people. Witnesses described a scene of chaos and disbelief as the unsuspecting tourists, many on horseback, were targeted in what is being called one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent years.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, has since claimed responsibility for the carnage — a revelation that has deepened public outrage and sparked renewed calls for action and accountability.

As the country grapples with the aftermath of this senseless violence, voices like Shah Rukh Khan’s remind us that grief must be met with unity, and loss must be met with resilience. In a time when emotions are raw and wounds are fresh, his words carry a solemn reminder of the strength that can emerge when a nation stands together.
