Google launches startup accelerator program to help women entrepreneurs

Google has announced a startup accelerator program for female entrepreneurs. The program will help them with matters such as hiring and financing.

Tech giant Google has established a startup accelerator program for female founders on Tuesday, which would assist them in overcoming difficulties such as finance and recruiting.

The first batch of the ‘Google for Firms Accelerator – India Women Founders’ will accept up to 20 women-founded co-founded startups in the nation and help them over the course of three months.

According to Google, the initiative is part of a bigger push to improve the participation of women across all areas of India’s digitally-trained workforce — be it entrepreneurship, professionals wishing to upskill, or fresh graduates seeking a head start on their career.

Googles’ ultimate goal in launching the program is to make technology broadly relevant and useful.

Google stated in a blog post, “…we are thrilled to launch the Google for Startups Accelerator – India Women Founders, designed to assist women founders in addressing difficulties unique to their experience, such as funding, recruiting, and many others.”

India has the third largest  startup capital after the United States and China. It boasts over a hundred unicorns, with 22 added just in 2022, covering industries like as e-commerce, healthtech, fintech, and others. However, just 15% of these Indian unicorns have one or more female founders.

Google said, “As Indian businesses strive to rethink more areas of the economy through technology, fair representation of women at the helm is critical to ensuring that the promised gains are widely accessible and helpful.”

The program will provide a specific emphasis on topics such as access to networks, money, recruiting problems, mentorship, and other areas that prove difficult for female entrepreneurs due to a number of societal factors and poor representation.

Aside from this, the program will feature workshops and assistance for AI/ML (artificial intelligence/machine learning), cloud, android, web, product strategy and growth, and access to a worldwide network of female founders.
