Mark Zuckerberg has announced a new WhatsApp feature that allows you to modify previously sent messages within 15 minutes. WhatsApp has added the ability to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending, allowing users to quickly repair mistakes without having to send another message. This will be available to everyone in a few weeks. WhatsApp has introduced one of the most highly awaited new features: the ability to modify previously sent messages.
Announcing the feature, Mark Zuckerberg said in a post that users are now able to alter a message within 15 minutes after sending the message. This new feature was introduced recently. To modify a message, you may do so by pressing and holding on the message, then selecting the “edit” option from the menu that appears.
To indicate that the message has been modified, “edited” will be appended to the time stamp of each message that has been modified. However, the program will not keep a record of any corrections made in the past. When you update a message, the prior versions of that message won’t be visible to any other users.
“We are happy that you will now have more control over your conversations, such as the ability to amend misspellings or add additional context to a message. We hope this will make your experience more enjoyable. “To do this, within fifteen minutes of sending the message, you must tap and hold that message for a while, and then select the option of ‘Edit’ from the menu,” the business wrote in a blog post. “This will allow you to change the content of the message.”

Up until this point, users were required to either completely erase a message or submit a correction in a new message of their own. The time limit to erase a message on the messaging app was upped to sixty hours a year ago, up from two days (or forty-eight hours).
Competitors to WhatsApp like Telegram and Signal have provided users with the opportunity to modify their messages for quite some time. Alongside the release of iOS 16, Apple also included the capability to modify and delete iMessages after they have been delivered. Even Twitter provided premium users with the ability to alter their tweets a year ago. Even if the window of time given to edit a message is far less than the one provided by Telegram (which is 48 hours), it is still preferable than having no such option.
The editing tool will allow me to rapidly repair mistakes rather than having to send another message, since I have been known to make my fair share of typing errors in my communications. The addressee may get perplexed if you send revisions. Additionally, it generates alerts that are not essential. Even after you remove a message, it will still show in the chat, which adds another layer of complexity to the situation.
Instead, it has been replaced with a notice that is grayed out and reads, “This message was deleted.” According to Meta, the functionality is now being sent out to users and will soon be accessible to everyone. This should just take a few weeks.
