In the early hours of Wednesday, two members of the transgender community were killed by as-yet-unidentified individuals. The motive for the murder is still a mystery.
In the early hours of Wednesday, two transgender people were clubbed to death in Hyderabad’s Tappachabutra neighborhood by unknown assailants, according to police. The two were travelling back to their residences in Jhirra Tappachabutra when this incident took occurred.
The two were coming home on their Activa scooter when they were stopped by the attackers close to their home. According to the complaint, they were attacked with stones and pointed objects. The victims have been named as Riyaz, also known as Sofia, and Yusuf, who went by the name Dolly. They were both between the ages of 25 and 30.
In the home of one of the transgender victims in Pahadishareef, an auto driver by the name of Azhar is said to have previously committed suicide. His purported murder has been claimed by his family. This double murder of transgender people is related to that case. However, Hyderabad Southwest’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Kiran Khare was described in this case as suggesting that the killings appeared to be motivated by “illegitimate intimacy”.
The mortuary is where the two bodies have been sent for the postmortem examination. The Tappachabutra Police have filed a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
In a separate double killing, two males who were found sleeping on a pavement in the Kattedan neighborhood within the jurisdiction of the Mailardevpally police station were beaten to death by unknown assailants. In both incidents, police moved the remains to allow for an autopsy and started an investigation.
