Bharti Singh, one of India’s most popular television comedians, has become the highest-paid celebrity on Colors TV’s cooking reality show Laughter Chef, reportedly earning between Rs 10-12 lakh per episode. Her remarkable success on television, however, stands in stark contrast to her challenging early life.
Born in Amritsar, Punjab, in 1984, Bharti faced significant hardships following her father’s sudden death. In an interview, she shared how her family struggled financially after losing their primary breadwinner. To support Bharti and her siblings, her mother took on work as a maid, often bringing leftover vegetables from the households where she worked to help feed her family. Bharti recalled those difficult times, sharing, “Mummy doosron ke ghar kaam karti thi main baithi rehti thi. Toilet saaf karti thi. Phir woh sabzi bachi rehti thi to bolte the le jaana bach gayi hai. Unki baasi sabzi hamari fresh ho jaati thi. Hamara poora din bann jata tha.”
Bharti’s big break came in 2008 when she joined The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, where her unique humor and engaging style quickly earned her a place in the hearts of audiences. This platform catapulted her career, and she soon became a fixture on Indian comedy shows, establishing herself as a household name.
In December 2017, Bharti married Haarsh Limbachiyaa, a writer and producer. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Lakshya, on April 3, 2022. Balancing her personal life with her rising career, Bharti’s story serves as an inspiration, demonstrating resilience and dedication as she continues to entertain millions.
