In a pointed post, Divya shared a photo of an empty theater and accused Alia of inflating box office numbers by allegedly purchasing tickets herself to fake collections.
Divya wrote, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty … all theaters going empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Her sarcastic comment “Sach Mein Bahut Jigra Hai” was a clever wordplay, subtly accusing Alia of having the “courage” to face the truth about Jigra’s performance.
This controversy follows an earlier conversation about the similarities between Divya’s film Savi and Alia’s Jigra. While Divya acknowledged that the films share a similar plot, she emphasized that each film has its own journey. Savi, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Anil Kapoor, centers around a housewife trying to break her husband out of a high-security prison, drawing inspiration from the Savitri and Satyavan story. In Jigra, Alia Bhatt’s character attempts to rescue her brother from prison in a similar jailbreak storyline.
In an interview, Divya previously commented, “Yes, I too have been getting this question a lot from the media, the industry, and the trade that Savi and Jigra are seeming very similar, the plot and everything. Well, I would just like to say that with the love of the audience and the grace of God that Savi has proved its worth totally on its own merits. We had a very good run in theatres and OTT too and we topped the charts in various countries.” She added that while Jigra may have a similar plot, every film has its own path.
Divya’s recent remarks, however, seem to reflect a deeper frustration, and her direct callout of Alia Bhatt has intensified the ongoing feud. Fans and industry insiders are closely watching how the Jigra box office journey unfolds amid this controversy.
