Koffee With Karan, Karan Johar’s chat show, is built around the idea of celebrities engaging in a lighthearted conversation with the director, frequently making jokes and pulling the legs of their contemporaries in the process. The show has been the center of numerous controversies, ranging from Kareena Kapoor Khan interrogating Priyanka Chopra about her “accent” to Sonam Kapoor mocking actors who have undergone plastic surgery.
Season 4 of the show featured Emraan Hashmi and his uncle Mahesh Bhatt, who are both noted for their straightforward approach. The “Murder” actor joked that he would respond “plastic” when Karan Johar questioned him during the rapid-fire round about the first thing that springs to mind when he hears the name Aishwarya Rai.
The 43-year-old then said in an interview with Hindustan Times that the nature of the program causes many things to be stated in fun and that he did not mean any of it. In addition to expressing his admiration for Aishwarya’s work, Emraan stated that people should not overreact to the situation and that he is deeply sorry if he offended Aishwarya.
This apparently did not sit well with Aishwarya, who has avoided him ever since. In other interviews, she even said that the worst thing anyone has ever called her is “false and plastic.”
