The Government of India has extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar cards to voter identification. This work was supposed to be completed by April 1, 2023, however the deadline has been pushed back by a year. According to the official notice, this work can now be completed until March 31, 2024.

Through a gazette announcement, the Ministry of Law and Justice (Government of Law and Justice) revealed its information. Yet, the government claims that this job is not mandatory, but rather optional. According to the Election Commission, this will provide information regarding the same person’s name appearing in more than one constituency or appearing in the same constituency many times. This task may also be completed online while sitting at home. That is quite simple to complete.

Not with standing the fact that the government has extended the deadline for integrating Aadhar cards with Voter ID. But, the deadline for integrating Aadhaar and Pan is approaching. There are just 9 days remaining to complete this task. If you do not complete this task by March 31, 2023, your PAN card will be cancelled. This indicates that it cannot be used.

If this occurs, card holders will be unable to open mutual funds, stocks, or bank accounts. Apart from that, Section 272B of the Income Tax Act provides for a punishment of up to Rs 10,000 if the closed PAN is used as a document.
