Veteran actors Paresh Rawal and Nana Patekar have not only delivered memorable performances in Hindi cinema but also share a strong bond built over years of working together.
Known for his candid nature, Paresh Rawal recently opened up about Nana Patekar’s fearless attitude and straightforward personality during an interview.
He fondly recalled an amusing incident involving a producer who once visited Nana Patekar’s home. “There was this producer – I won’t name him. Nana told him to come home one day. He asked, ‘Do you eat mutton?’ The producer ate. After the meal, Nana said – ‘You ate, right? Now go and wash the dishes.’ That is Nana Patekar–baap hai. Wo alag hi hai. Wo mitti alag hai yaar. (He’s a legend. He’s built differently, made from a different mold),” said Paresh Rawal, highlighting Nana’s unapologetically bold demeanor.
Paresh Rawal also revealed that Nana Patekar was the first character artist to demand and receive a fee of Rs 1 crore for a role. “Even lead heroes didn’t ask for that much. But Nana asked for it – and got it,” he added, emphasizing how Nana’s straightforward demand left a mark in the industry and shifted expectations around character actors.
