Bollywood actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha has landed in the middle of a controversy following his remarks on the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people. A video of Shatrughan Sinha interaction with a reporter has gone viral, where he initially seems unaware of the incident and later refers to it as a “propaganda war,” drawing sharp criticism online.
When questioned about the attack, Shatrughan Sinha responds, “What has happened there?” The reporter answers, “Whatever is happening with the Hindus there…” prompting Shatrughan Sinha to interrupt with a pointed remark: “Why are you saying Hindus, Hindus? Hindus, Muslims, all are Indians there.”
He went on to caution against media sensationalism and emphasized the need for a more thoughtful approach. “This propaganda war is going on too much … I think this is a very sensitive issue. It should be looked into very deeply. We should not say or do anything that increases tension. Right now, the wounds need healing,” he said.
Shatrughan Sinha’s comments have drawn significant backlash, particularly in a moment when the film industry and the nation have come together to denounce the violence. The attack, where tourists were reportedly targeted based on their religion, has ignited widespread grief and condemnation. Shatrughan Sinha’s remarks, seen by many as downplaying the incident, have sparked anger across social media platforms.
