Sunil Gavaskar Names The Team Which Can End Its IPL Drought This Season

Former Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has voiced his confidence in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s chances to finally clinch their first IPL title, praising their overall performance in the ongoing season. While speaking in an interview, Gavaskar expressed admiration for the franchise’s consistency, particularly highlighting their success in away matches and their sharp fielding displays.

So far in the 2025 IPL season, Bengaluru has climbed to second place on the league table, notching up seven wins in ten matches. What makes their run particularly impressive is that six of those victories have come on the road—a testament to their ability to perform under pressure away from home.

“Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They’ve batted well and fielded superbly too. Mumbai Indians are close, but they’ve only just started their surge. The question is whether they can maintain it, as they have three tough matches coming up against top teams,” Gavaskar remarked.

He further emphasized the importance of momentum as the league approaches its critical phase. “How they (Mumbai) carry that momentum will be key. But yes, RCB are the title favourites,” he added.

While two other franchises continue their 17-season hunt for a title, Gavaskar’s endorsement places RCB at the forefront of championship contention this year, raising hopes among their fans for a historic finish.
