30th ODI Century: How Rohit Sharma broke Azharuddin’s record

0

Rohit Sharma has equaled Ricky Ponting in terms of most ODI centuries. Sachin Tendulkar has the most number of centuries in ODIs with 49, followed by Virat Kohli with 45.

Rohit Sharma scored his 30th ODI century in the last match of the ODI series against New Zealand. Rohit Sharma now has the same number of ODI hundreds as Ricky Ponting.

Sachin Tendulkar has the most ODI centuries (49), followed by former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who has 45 centuries.

Rohit Sharma and Ricky Ponting are currently tied for third place, having each achieved 30 hundreds. Rohit Sharma will surpass Ricky Ponting when it comes to another ODI century. Rohit Sharma is also the captain of Team India.

By the way, every time Rohit Sharma steps onto the field, he either sets a new record or is on the verge of doing so, but on Tuesday, he set a new record, which Rohit is likely to be aware of. Rohit Sharma has now become Team India’s oldest ODI skipper to score a century. He has completed the task of beating former skipper Azharuddin’s record.

Rohit Sharma was born in Nagpur, Maharashtra on April 30, 1987. On January 24, 2023, Rohit Sharma will be 35 years and 269 days old. On the same day, he hit a century in the third One-Day International against New Zealand at Indore. He is now the oldest Indian player to score an ODI century as captain.

Previously, this record was in the name of Azhar. At the age of 35 years and 224 days, Azharuddin hit an ODI century as captain. On September 20, 1998, Azharuddin made a century as captain in the fifth one-day match in Toronto. This was also Azhar’s final ODI century. He continued to play cricket after 1998 until 2000, although he did not score a single century. Azhar last played an ODI on June 3, 2000, captained by Sourav Ganguly.

By the way, if we talk about this ranking, former captain Rahul Dravid, who is now Team India’s head coach, comes in at number three. At the age of 33 years and 127 days, former skipper Rahul Dravid achieved his first ODI century as captain. Rahul Dravid’s final ODI century as captain came on March 18, 2006, against the West Indies in Kingston. He was also the team’s captain at the time. Rahul Dravid continued to play ODIs till September 16, 2011, however he did not score a single century. Rahul Dravid retired after playing his final ODI under MS Dhoni’s leadership.

Despite setting a new milestone, Rohit Sharma has a chance to score a century as a captain at an even later age. Rohit Sharma is expected to head the Indian squad at least till the ODI World Cup in 2023.

The World Cup will be held solely in India. The issue is if Rohit Sharma can reach a century during this time frame. If the century occurs, it will be impossible for any other batsman-captain to break Rohit Sharma’s record.

Meet the ASHA worker who fought casteism to transform a whole village

0

Odisha’s Matilda Kullu is an ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist). She leaves home at around 7.30 am after having made lunch for the family and fed the cattle. In her handbag, you may find a pen, notepad, first-aid kit, a lunch box and water bottle.

Matilda Kullu (46), an ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker from Odisha, is up at 5 a.m. every day to conduct her routine home tasks.

She gets ready for the day and departs at 7.30 a.m. after creation lunch for the household and nursing the cattle.

She walks out of her house wearing a pristine blue saree that she has carefully fastened on her shoulder.

She wears her identity card around her neck as she carries her backpack and climbs her bike for the day’s job.

You may expect to find a pen, a notebook, a first-aid kit, a lunch box, and a water bottle in her handbag.

My husband’s salaries never felt adequate for a family of four, especially because I wanted to provide a good education for my children.

Until 2006, I would do odd jobs and stitching to make ends meet, but it was never enough.”

Matilda currently tends after over 950 individuals, largely from the Kharia tribe, and claims to know all of their health records and problems like the back of her hand.

Matilda’s village has very little access to health care.

If they became ill, none of the villagers would go to a doctor or a hospital.

They would either cure it with local plants and mixtures or undertake rituals such as exorcism and sorcery in the hopes of curing their ailment.

Matilda’s initial course of action was to alter this mindset.

Matilda brought about this transition all by herself, slowly but surely.

“At first, my duty included checking on pregnant women and providing them with any assistance they obligatory.

“We were salaried Rs 600 each patient for transferring a pregnant lady to the hospital,” she says.

It took Matilda a long time to persuade the villagers to get their health checks done at hospitals.

The hesitation to do so was really great.

Women began to feel more confidence after a few successful and smooth delivery at the hospital.

Matilda says that she has assisted with around 200 deliveries to date.

Matilda notes that the one thing that hasn’t changed much throughout her years of service is her compensation.

She claims that someone with her skills will earn no more than Rs 5,000 a month on average.

Doctors began handing more work to Matilda after a few years of service, according to Matilda.

“There have been manifestations when the doctor summoned us into the labour room then pronounced how they involvement in the delivery of a youngster.

They want us to learn so that we will be able to do it on our own in the future.

Matilda was gradually given responsibility for the village’s immunisation effort.

“Then instigated the time of family preparation implementation.

Despite the fact that this required a lot of travelling and door-to-door campaign activity, the pay I received barely covered my transportation costs.

“Even then, I finished everything,” she recalls.

“We do not have a set wage. We only get paid founded on the number of persons we bring to the hospital, inoculate, and so on,” she clarifies.

People now seek me out.

Matilda is pleased that she has progressed to the point where the villagers may sit across from her and have a cup of tea.

“I am no longer a social outcast, and credit for this improvement belongs to the job I am participating in,” she adds proudly.

“Never did I anticipate anybody outside my little village would know me, let alone this worldwide recognition,” she says of being the first ASHA worker to be recognised and included in the Forbes India W-Power 2021 list.

Others informed me of the magnitude of this honour.

They informed me that I had been featured among well-known and renowned businesspeople like as Arundathi Bhattacharya, Aparna Purohit, and even IPS officer Rema Rajshwari.”

She recalls how many television crews and reporters began to swarm the town.

“That is something I will always cherish. Obtaining this award for an ASHA employee is my life’s greatest accomplishment.”

Matilda’s persistence prompted 51-year-old Jyoti Kumari to become an ASHA worker in 2007.

She would come to see us, tell us about the job she was doing, and constantly encouraged us to join the programme.

It has assumed me a lot of confidence.

I never anticipated myself leaving my house to work, and yet here I am, 15 years later.”

The thrill of assisting someone in need is what keeps these ASHA employees going. Matilda says, “Better pay would be the opaqueness on the cake, but that consumes never stopped me from execution my work and never determination.”

Know how the Plus app helps Indian homemakers save for jewellery and gold

0

Plus is a savings app for Indian homemakers. Find out how the apphelps users in saving for jewellery and gold.

Veer Mishra and Raj Parakh wanted to create an app that their mothers could use for savings. More than 62% of homemakers have some sort of savings goal for gold/jewellery. Homemakers consider this is the most trusted asset class for investment.

Veer Mishra and Raj Parakh, serial entrepreneurs who have known each other for eight years, had always wanted to build an app that their moms could use to save money.

Veer Mishra said, “The overall gap in fintech inclusion for homemakers is extremely clear, and we saw only within the first few months of the journey that what works for the broader market in fintech won’t work for this audience.”

Raj claims that the startup’s turning point came after they received the findings of a study of over 3,000 Indian housewives performed between February and May 2022.

“We saw statistics that showed that more than 62% of homemakers have some form of savings objective for gold/jewellery and that they believe this to be the most trustworthy asset class for investing,” he says.

According to the co-founder, homemakers save for their family. Women organise their jewellery purchases with their preferred jewellers.

Raj says, “Just last year, about Rs 35,000 crore was raised in such a buy plan in India, which provided us with a chance to digitise this whole industry.” This resulted in the formation of their business in May of last year.

Furthermore, its inventors claim that it is India’s first jewellery savings app, allowing users to locate reliable jewellers and begin preparing for their next jewellery purchases directly with the jewellers they can trust.

“Since a solution, we have the first mover advantage as we digitise these purchasing plans via our app. Users can easily locate, compare, and plan their jewellery purchases in a single app rather of visiting many jewellery stores,” Raj explains.

Raj says, “As millions of Indians plan their savings in the form of gold jewellery, Plus wants to make sure consumers get the highest returns for planning and saving. Interestingly, this is a common behaviour in the jewellery sector, and Plus is designed to improve the experience associated with it.”

Plus’ app, which was released two weeks ago, is now in beta testing and had 1,000 downloads in its first week. So far, the software has had 2,500 downloads on both Android and iOS.

Plus has signed Fiona Diamonds (an 18-year-old jewellery company) and is conducting pilots with them. The business is also in discussions with a few significant traditional jewellers as well as everyday wear jewellery designers who will launch on the site within the next two months.

“So we are aiming to conclude this pilot with Fiona and the beta mode in February. And then we’ll go public with some of these other partner brands,” Raj continues.

In terms of its revenue strategy, Plus is free for consumers, while the firm charges jewellers partners fees on each successful redemption.

Plus secured an unknown amount of money earlier this month, lead by JITO Angel Network, with participation from Venture Catalyst, WeFounder Circle, and other high-net-worth people. In addition, the increased funds will be used for product development and employing new employees.

Raj states, “With an organisation like JITO Angel, behind us there is a lot of credibility which is established for the firm. We are also putting together our initial team. There will also be a lot more material, which is expected to be live on the app soon, so that we can basically have more screen time of our users on the app.”

Over the next 8-12 months, the business hopes to attain a GMV/GTV (gross merchandise value/gross transaction value) of Rs 100 crore.

Pooja Mehta, Chief Investment Officer, JITO Angel Network, says, “It is a one-of-a-kind concept that is sure to resonate with Indians who customarily lodge their extra earnings in jewellery.”

Education Technology in 2023:  All about its future and prospects

0

The Indian Edtech sector was gaining market share, with B2B and B2C enterprises attracting investors, marketing cash, and revenue. As a result of the pandemic’s global impact, several companies and sectors sustained devastating losses. Nevertheless, the Edtech business remained steadfast by rapidly adapting and speeding digitalization.

Prior to the pandemic, the Indian Edtech industry was steadily increasing its market share, with B2B and B2C businesses garnering investors, marketing capital, and revenue.

As a result of the pandemic’s worldwide impact, some firms and industries suffered catastrophic losses.

Nonetheless, the Edtech industry has stayed firm by constantly adapting and expediting digitization, allowing people across the country to have access to education quickly and effectively.

Edtech’s technological landscape

The contrast between what to adopt and what not to adopt from the pandemic model to the transition to a hybrid model has been clearly established for the whole industry.

Offline-based training facilities will use technology convenience for evaluation, certification, testing, and optional online training in the field of professional learning.

Edtech will advance their technology since they have the time and data analytics to ensure how to increase the customer experience.

The beginnings of virtual reality and augmented reality will be seen, although they will remain in their infancy.

Furthermore, we will see significant automation in their customer service, support, and, to a lesser extent, sales divisions.

The K-12 sector, on the other hand, will continue to use technology in the same way because it is already ahead of the professional learning segment in terms of technology adoption.

However, the top K-12 Edtech sectors may have made technological breakthroughs in their physical buildings by 2023.

Priority is given to accessibility

You’ve probably never considered it, but future educational technology will be more accessible and user-friendly for persons with impairments.

Accessibility is more than just being able to go about in a wheelchair or on crutches; it extends beyond that.

Physical accessibility is only one part of accessibility.

It is also about making content available to people who learn in different ways, have diverse levels of experience and competence, or any combination of the aforementioned traits.

Accessibility has always been an issue in the realm of education; but, with the fast improvements in technology that have occurred in the previous ten years, this worry has taken on even more importance.

If we want our students to succeed, we must offer them with access to a wide range of information, regardless of whether they are beginners or more experienced students.

Provider of employment

Education can reach every corner of the country with the use of education technology and investments in online education.

Because distance is no longer an impediment, any motivated student or learner living in the most remote region may now obtain a high-quality education.

Every parent and child may now fulfil their hopes for a better future.

There is an increasing demand for teachers as a result of online education.

The constant development and expansion of various learning platforms necessitates an availability of trained educators.

As a result, education technology and online education address two major challenges in the Indian education system: teaching the greatest number of students in the country and giving teachers and students with more job opportunities.

Examining the Edtech business structure

We can safely predict that the professional learning segment of Edtech will grow steadily in 2023; however, some organisations may choose a hybrid approach (physical space + online) to ensure they can cater to a diverse audience; given the k12 slowdown and chaos, it would be prudent to diversify ahead of time, especially in a growing sector.

In 2023, there will be cautious investment and cost cuts in the K-12 industry, as well as a seismic shift in these organisations’ orientation.

With inflation and resource concerns hurting the technology industry, we may expect significant investments in automation and technical developments to help create a more competitive environment for these students.

After learning its experience, the Edtech industry will not pursue an aggressive development strategy; rather, it will pursue a slow and planned expansion with regulated expenditures.

The digital world is no longer a choice; it is now an essential component of growth.

A panoramic viewpoint

In its infancy, the Edtech business has made its way into the majority of households and classrooms.

Binding textbook information and developing practical methods of tutelage has demonstrated a remarkable pedagogical strategy.

With the objective of making online education more accessible and cheap, the development of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR) is gaining traction.

Graduates of these programmes will have career prospects in high-paying sectors, and the influence on education as a whole will be revolutionary.
