As his video made rounds via online media, people gradually visited his food stall, that he runs with his better half. It earned so much consideration that Baba ka Dhaba was a top Twitter pattern on Thursday. AAP MLA Somnath Bharti, food bloggers, web-based media influencers and numerous others went to Baba ka Dhaba and helped the elderly couple get their business in the groove again.

Never-ending story

The elderly person who runs this Dhaba is Kanta Prasad and has been running this food eatery stall, since 1988 with his wife Badami Devi. 80-year-old Kanta Prasad shared that he and his better half Badami Devi generally began cooking at 6.30 am. The elderly couple is always prepared with the day’s meal by 9.30 am. Dal, curry, parathas and rice are kept in huge dishes to be sold for around Rs 30-50 a plate.

The octogenarian couple initially hails from Uttar Pradesh and in 1961 moved to Delhi when Kanta prasad was 21, seeking a better life in a metro city. Strikingly, this elderly couple were married when Prasad was just five and his child bride was simply thee-years-old. After the couple moved to Delhi with a desire to make their life comfortable, Prasad began to function as a fruit vendor. As time passed and old-age started appearing, he moved to the food business. For quite a long time, the business was moderate. His Dhaba which offers dal chawal, paratha, tea, and so on, couldn’t pull in-crowd.

They scarcely ever built huge profits, yet the pandemic has been destroying for their little business. The elderly couple gets no assistance from their children  – two boy and a girl. Nonetheless, that one video made by blogger Gaurav Vasan did the magic for the elderly couple.

As quoted by Kanta Prasad, ”We are very pleased with the number of clients that are turning to our eatery presently. We are thankful for the community support.” His wife Badami Devi smilingly poses for the photo and says innocently-”During the lockdown period we could sell nothing. We fought to survive but today we are overrun with buyers. We want to bless all those who helped us in this crisis.”

Baby Haldar, a domestic maid who turned into a best selling author, was born in the beautiful valley of Kashmir, is a victim of child marriage. She has undergone physical n mental abuse for most of her life.

Baby was abandoned when she was by her birth mother. She grew up at the pity of her cruel father and her stepmother, who compelled her to drop out of school in class 6. She was just 12 when her parents forced her to marry an old man. The innocent child didn’t know even that she was getting married to a man 14 yrs older.

Ending the Abuse

Baby became a mother at the age of 13. So she decided to break the chain of an abusive marriage. She was 25 and a mother of three when Halder left her husband and fled on a train to Delhi with her kids to start a new life.

She started working as a domestic help in numerous homes. She got the job at the home of writer and retired anthropology educator Prabodh Kumar in Gurugram. Kumar is the grandson of Hindi best selling author of all time, genius Munshi Premchand. Baby worked in his home for four years, she cleaned, cooked and swabbed in his home, never speaking a word. While working in his library she remembers how her arms would slow down when she moved toward the professor’s bookshelf.

The professor encouraged Haldar to read books of many best selling authors ranging From Amar Meyebela (My Girlhood) to many other books written by extraordinary authors. He wanted her to read, teaching her the lesson that it is never too late to do what one loves to do. Baby remembers how she felt like  reading her own narrative in the famous novel “ Amar Meyebela” by Taslima Nasreen, another best selling author.

The Life-changing Moment

Once, when Professor Kumar was going on a trip to South India, he brought her a plain notebook and a pen and asked her to write her story. She was reluctant at the first go. When the professor left, Baby started writing her story in her native Bengali dialect. She used to write at night or sometimes between the break-in daily work. By the time the professor returned she had already written about 100 pages. She had penned down memories from her lost childhood, the atrocity of the first night of marriage, becoming a mother at 13 years about her sufferings from labour pains, the scars that damaged her body from years of domestic violence, etc.

The professor was amazed to learn that Baby had written in a book after 20 years. The experience was liberating for her self. Further more, he was in tears after reading the manuscript of a would be best selling author. Halder’s first book, her autobiography, was named as Aalo Aandharior The life less ordinary. He edited the manuscript and even translate it into Hindi.

Recognition

In 2002, Roshani Publishers, a small publishing house in Kolkata, decided to publish it. Aalo Aandhari hit the shelves and starting selling out from day one. It immediately attracted attention and Baby tinted into a best selling author.

The English translation of the same was published in 2006. It became a bestseller. The New York Times marked it India’s Angela’s Ashes. The book of this best selling author, has been translated in 21 local and 13 foreign languages.

Halder till 2012 continued to work in the professor house. She wrote two more books after that. Baby Haldar built a house in Kolkata from her earning. Eshat Roopantar in Bengali is her second book which was also well received by readers. She has written her third book named ‘Ghare Fhehar Path’ (An Autobiographical Narrative in Bengali).

This best selling author said in a recent interview, “My draft for the fourth book is nearly prepared. It is truly the gifts of Ma Saraswati and my Tatus, ”- the name by which the best selling author fondly calls her mentor, professor Kumar.

Baby now a days works at a Sonagachi NGO that helps to improve the lives of sex workers and helps sufferers of trafficking.

What lead to two scientists of India nominated for the Physics Nobel prize

0

To start with, Dr. Reinhard Genzel and Dr. Andrea Ghez have done remarkable work in the sector of Physics. Both have discovered a supermassive compact object at the center of our galaxy. You must also remember the fact that these two scientists of India are also famous for the remarkable work of the black holes and you should keep this in mind.

Indian scientist Mr. AK Raychaudhar and CV vishveshwarawere also famous for their contribution to the theory of the black holes. Today the focus of the story is Noble Prize winner Sir Roger Penrose.

About Sir Penrose’s work

Secondly, Prof Penrose is a British mathematical physicist at the University of Oxford. He used the advanced mathematical technique to tell the working theories of the black hole. This theory works simultaneously with the general theory of the relativity, which was given by Einstein.

Also, in his work, he was jointly working with Stephen hawking. Both were working to form the new idea in the direction of the gravitational singularities. In the center of the whole, they found some points of the infinite density, and these were published in The Guardian. Two scientists of India are now being appreciated for their remarkable contribution.

Work of two scientists of India

Thirdly, one should know the fact two Indian scientists provided them a great help in this context. Namely, they are Mr. AK Raychaudhar and CV vishveshwara. You will be amazed to know the fact apart from helping in the work they also worked significantly in the direction of helping to understand everyone about the black holes.

Further, Prof CV vishveshwara is also the founding director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru. One of the most prominent research education advancement programs in Physical sciences were also established by him. In addition, he established this for helping undergraduate students. His studies and works on the black hole theory and understanding are remarkable. The best part is that he did this when it was a graduate student at the University of Maryland.

Mr. AK Raychaudhar and CV vishveshwara

Furthermore, While studying in Maryland he published some very important single-author papers. These still works are the basic understanding of the black holes for us. Stephen Hawking, Roger Penrose, and every other were amazed by his work. The actual came later and our Indian scientists have already done remarkable work in the same study and theory.

Next, Dr. Karan Jani has proved it who is associated with LIGO. He further adds the fact that his critical calculation was usedwhen they were discovering the gravitational waves. Further, one article that was published in The Hindu newspaper has also stated that originally he was the first one to tell us about the black hole in a clear manner. After the years of his published work, in 2015 such pictures were captured that were proved that his theory about the black holes was correct.

Moreover, Raychaudhari is also a very intelligent physicist. He is graduated from one of the top-notch Presidency colleges in Kolkata. Though he was less known his work speaks for him. He came up with a unique equation during his seminal research work in 1950. This particular equation tells us about everything about the formation of the black holes.

Gratitude in the last

To sum up, much of the other research work in this same direction was done. No doubt, in the early years there were not able to get a reputation for their remarkable work but in the later years, they were recognized by the well-known newspapers and magazines. These two scientists of India were simply remarkable in their work and made history in the sector of physics.

Farmer’s blind son who turned into a millionaire!

0

Srikant Bolla was considered as a “useless” baby as he was born blind by villagers of Seetharamapuram of Machalipuram in Andhra Pradesh. This 23-year-old, blind boy currently runs an organisation which manufactures eco-friendly, disposable consumer packaging solutions, worth Rs. 50 crores.

Srikant is an industrialist who set up the Bollant Industries in Hyderabad. He is also the first international blind student to study Business in the prestigious Massuchettes Institute of Technology. Ironically the same blind student was denied to be coached for studying in Indian Institute of Technology at one point of time. But Bolla is an inspiration, not only to differently-abled people but also to all the youngsters who think negative about their life.

Life is not a bed of Roses

Born in a poor family of a farmer in rural India, Srikanth was born blind. His uneducated parent uses to earn a little around ₹1700 a month. His parents raised him with love and affection in spite of being advice to disown the visually impaired child.

Srikanth was sent to study in the village school where he was bullied, not allowed to play and was pushed to the last bench. The school didn’t have any sort of inclusive educational system. That’s when his father took him to a special needs school in Hyderabad. Here he was grown as the kindness he was shown. He learnt to play chess and cricket and topped in them. He outperformed his class, even got on an opportunity to work with late President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in the Lead India project. But in a society like ours, none of this mattered. In class XI, Srikanth was denied admission in the science stream even though he scored 90% in the Andhra Pradesh class X state board exams. The board argument was that a blind boy could only take Arts subjects after that.

Fortune favours the brave

Having faced rejection, Srikanth decided to fight against injustice. He sued the government. And after fighting for six months he got a government order that he could take the science subjects but at his ‘own risk’. For Srikanth it was not ‘risking’ anything to chance, he did whatever he could to prove everybody wrong. The blind young boy got all the textbooks converted to audiobooks, worked day and night to finish the course. Lastly, he successfully managed to secure 98 per cent in his XII board exams.

He applied for top engineering colleges like IIT, BITS Pilani, but did not get a hall ticket a she was blind. He did his homework searching the Internet to find the best engineering programme for blind students. He applied to schools in the United States and got calls from the top four colleges. He got admitted into MIT along with a scholarship. He became the first international blind student in the school’s history.

Coming back to his Roots

Srikanth completed his course. He got many offers from reputed international business houses but he refused. He gave up the ‘golden’ opportunity of working in corporate America and came back to India. Bolla set up a support service platform to rebuild, nurture and combine differently-abled people in society. He helped about 3000 students in attaining education and vocational courses. Srikanth also thought about their employment. That’s when the idea of setting up a company came to his mind.

Many people including Ratan Tata and Angel investor Ravi, who met Srikanth were impressed with Srikanth’s business understanding and concept for his company. They not only mentored him but also invested in Bolla’s company. At that time the company was having a small, tin-roof shack in an industrial area near Hyderabad. But Today, Srikanth has four production plants having a turnover of 150 crores in 2018. He now employs hundreds of differently-abled people.

The boy who was born blind is now showing many the way to real success. Bolla was named by Forbes magazine in its list of 30 under 30 across all of Asia in the year 2017. He has won many awards and accolades over the time including young entrepreneur award.

Listening to the Story of Arunima Sinha will definitely have everyone getting goosebumps. The super girl who conquered Mount Everest with an amputated leg.  She not only proved her ability with her prosthetic leg but also made her a source of motivation, for everybody back home.

Losing Everything

Arunima hails from Ambedkar nagar, Uttar Pradesh. She was a national level volleyball player till 1988 and was unstoppable. But life had something very cruel in store for her. The incident which turned things completely out of her hand. In 2011, she was travelling to New Delhi in general coach when a bunch of robbers tried to snatch her belongings. When She resisted, the robbers drove her out of a moving train. She battled in hospital for her injury, leg as well as her honour. It took her long to convince the police that she hadn’t attempted suicide or met with an accident. The day she was given the amputated leg, Arunima took a vow that many would find even difficult to understand. Her aim, from that day onwards, was to simply prove her worth by climbing the highest peak in the world – Mount Everest.

Against all odds- Fighting it back

The challenge was huge. Arunima decided to fight back. She drew inspiration from Yuvraj Singh’s story who battled cancer successfully. She was determined that she would not cringe down because of her amputated leg.

Arunima first became capable of walking with her amputated leg. After some months, She contacted Bachendri Pal. Pal is the first woman to climb Mt Everest. In 2012, at the Uttarkashi camp of the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF), Sinha was signed up for coaching  under her. Arunima also took continuous training in the mountainsby Srijani Ganguly.

Road to Success

On her first attempt while in transit to the summit, she was so happy to have achieved the base camp that she lost balance and fell to the ground, wounding herself in the process. In 2012 itself, Arunima climbed Mount Chhamser Kangri with her amputated leg. She and her Sherpa were the first to leave the camp on the day she started to summit the Mount Everest. Just close to the summit, her Sherpa gave her some terrible news. The oxygen levels of the mountaineers were exhausting quickly. They had to return back and had to attempt their journey again on the following day.

Arunima was persistent on finishing the summit that very day. She achieved her goal of conquering Mount Everest in 17hrs, at 10:55 am on 21 May 2013. Those 7 minutes on the top were the most memorable moments of her life. She wanted to shout aloud to everyone that she had finally done it.

Awards and Recognition

Arunima till date can’t fully explain that feeling, of spending those six to seven minutes on the summit. She says, “I felt like opening my arms in the air and screaming loudly. I wished to tell the whole world that I’m on top, particularly to those who thought a woman with an amputated leg couldn’t do it. I removed my mask and shouted, and my sherpa was staring at me.” She thanked those who called her crazy and made fun of her. Even now whenever people who call her crazy about her ambitions, she loves that feeling. It makes her feel that she is very near to her goals.

In 2016, Arunima entered the Limca Book of Records, as ‘People of the Year’. Sinha is now a  dedicated social welfare worker. She is dreaming to open a free sports academy as Pandit Chandra Shekhar Vikalang Khel Academy for the differently-abled persons and the poor. Arunima is presently donating all her financial aids for the same cause.  There is book ‘Born Again On The Mountain: A Story of Losing Everything And Finding It Back’ narrating Arunima’ story. And in the near future, a biopic is also in making with Alia Bhatt playing the role of this inspirational mountain climber.
