Manisha Koirala’s Inspiring Journey: From Battling Cancer to Starring in SLB’s ‘Heeramandi’

The well-known Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala has been making waves due to her portrayal of the courtesan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Heeramandi. Although Manisha has once again enchanted the Indian public, not many are aware of her path. Since receiving her cancer diagnosis, she has experienced a lot. Manisha never gave up on life, which is one of the reasons she is back in the industry and using her acting talent to win over new fans.

Who is a Manisha Koirala?
On August 16, 1970, in Biratnagar, Nepal, Manisha Koirala was born. She comes from a political family—her father, Prakash Koirala, was a cabinet minister and politician. However, Sushma, her mother, stayed at home to take care of the family. The first elected prime minister of Nepal was Bishweshawar Prasad Koirala, her grandfather. However, few people are aware that Manisha lived with her maternal grandmother in Varanasi during her childhood.

Manisha Koirala’s movie career
Manisha’s family wasn’t thrilled with her choice to pursue a career in film, so her path wasn’t simple. However, her grandma Sushila supported her and urged her to give it her all. Manisha’s career as a model thereafter began, paving the way for her entrance into Bollywood. In 1991, Manisha Koirala made her screen debut in Subhash Ghai’s Saudagar. She became well-known in the Hindi cinema business right away. She quickly made a name for herself in movies like Criminal and 1942: A Love Story. She has completed over 100 films throughout her thirty years in the business.

When Manisha Koirala received her cancer diagnosis
Manisha’s world fell apart in 2012 when she received a stage IV ovarian cancer diagnosis. When Manisha learned the news, she was in total shock and was in Kathmandu, Nepal. However, it wasn’t shocking because her family had a history of cancer sufferers.

Before being diagnosed with cancer, Manisha Koirala disclosed that a healer had told her that “she was angry with her ovaries.”

Manisha once shared in an interview that she was informed an odd thing about her ovaries by a Maori healer in Mumbai. Manisha recalled the experience as the healer simply sensed her energy and said, “You should send loving energies to your ovaries because you are very angry with them.” The healer did not even touch her body, according to Manisha. Manisha speculated that it might be because she sought IVF therapy after getting married but was unable to conceive, and when she gave up on the procedure, she might have lost her temper.

Manisha Koirala remembered going bald following her treatment for cancer.
Although it wasn’t an easy road to rehabilitation, Manisha fought hard for her health. Manisha once admitted to having hair loss in an interview with the IANS, but she wasn’t sure how it had affected her appearance. Her family supported her, though, and once she was cancer-free, she was psychologically ready to face everything. The actress said that she lost her lashes, eyebrows, and hair as a result of chemotherapy. She would feel foreign every time she looked in the mirror.

Heeramandi by Manisha Koirala
Right now, Manisha is making waves with her appearance in the Netflix web series Heeramandi, which is helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, as “Mallikajaan.” Manisha has never portrayed a character quite like this one, and Sanjay, the director, made it possible by meticulously handling every part. Manisha recently disclosed that she has been waiting for a call from SLB for 28 years.

Manisha has had numerous challenges in her life, but she has overcome each one!

Struggling with scorching hot tap water in summer? Discover the dangers of showering with excessively hot water and explore effective methods to cool it down for a refreshing and safe showering experience. (159 characters)

Summer’s scorching heat can be relentless, and even the simple act of taking a shower can become an unpleasant ordeal. Imagine turning on the tap, expecting cool relief, only to be greeted by scalding hot water. This scenario, unfortunately, becomes a reality for many households during the peak summer months. While a cool shower offers a refreshing escape from the heat, showering with excessively hot water can pose a significant health risk.

The Hidden Dangers of Hot Showers in Summer

While a steaming hot shower might feel inviting in colder weather, it’s crucial to understand the potential downsides during the summer. Here’s why showering with excessively hot water can be detrimental to your health:

  • Skin Damage: Hot water strips away the skin’s natural oils, leaving it dry, itchy, and susceptible to irritation. This can worsen pre-existing skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
  • Increased Hair Fall: Hot water weakens hair follicles, promoting breakage and hair loss.
  • Burns: Scalding water can cause thermal burns, especially on sensitive areas like the face and inner thighs.
  • Aggravated Menstrual Issues: Hot showers can disrupt hormonal balance and worsen menstrual cramps or irregular periods.
  • Exacerbated Hemorrhoids: Hot water can irritate hemorrhoids and worsen discomfort.
  • Urinary Tract Issues: Frequent hot showers can disrupt the delicate balance of bacteria in the urinary tract, increasing the risk of infections.
  • Fatigue and Dryness: Hot showers can leave you feeling drained and dehydrated. The excessive heat can dilate blood vessels, leading to fatigue and dizziness. Additionally, hot water can exacerbate dry skin.

Cooling Down Your Scalding Shower Water: Effective Strategies

Now that we understand the potential pitfalls of excessively hot showers, let’s explore some practical solutions to cool down your scorching tap water:

  • Nighttime Water Storage: Fill a few buckets with tap water and leave them in the bathroom overnight. This allows the water to cool down naturally to a more comfortable temperature by morning.
  • Cold Water Mix: If you need a shower immediately and the water is too hot, mix cold water from another source, like a nearby sink, into the hot water stream to adjust the temperature.
  • Showerhead Upgrade: Consider installing a showerhead with a temperature control feature. This allows you to easily adjust the water temperature for a comfortable shower experience.
  • Shorter Showers: Opt for shorter showers to minimize water usage and exposure to excessive heat.
  • Lukewarm Preference: Train yourself to favor lukewarm showers over scorching hot ones. Your skin and overall health will thank you for it.
  • Invest in a Solar Shower Bag: In some regions, a solar shower bag can be a viable option. Fill the bag with water and leave it in direct sunlight for several hours. The sun’s heat will naturally warm the water for a refreshing shower.

Beyond Cooling Down: Additional Summer Shower Tips

While cooling down your shower water is crucial, here are some additional tips for a more enjoyable and refreshing summer shower experience:

  • Essential Oils: Add a few drops of refreshing essential oils like peppermint or eucalyptus to your shower steam for a spa-like experience.
  • Exfoliate Regularly: Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and allows your skin to better absorb moisture from cooler showers.
  • Moisturize After Every Shower: Since hot showers can dry out your skin, make sure to use a gentle moisturizer after every shower, especially during the summer months.
  • Invest in a Cooling Showerhead: Some showerheads are designed with cooling features, incorporating mist settings or water filtration systems that can enhance the cooling sensation.

Conclusion

Taking a refreshing shower shouldn’t be a battle against scorching hot water. By understanding the risks of excessively hot showers and implementing these simple cooling strategies, you can transform your summer showers into a safe and enjoyable experience. Embrace cooler showers, prioritize your skin health, and enjoy the invigorating sensation of cool water washing away the summer heat.

Talbinah: Know how this Arabian-style Barley Porridge benefits your health

0

Discover Talbinah, a delicious and nutritious Arabian-style barley porridge praised for its weight management, immune-boosting, and cholesterol-lowering properties. Learn its history, health benefits, and a simple recipe to make it at home.

For centuries, barley has been a staple grain prized for its nutritional value. While wheat porridge is a popular breakfast choice, its Arabian cousin, Talbinah, offers a unique and potentially more beneficial option. This warm and comforting barley porridge, traditionally made with milk and barley flour, boasts a rich history and a surprising array of health benefits.

A Legacy of Nourishment: Talbinah’s Historical Significance

Talbinah holds a special place in the Arab community, as it is made from barley, which is said to be a sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Muslims believe that there is spiritual as well as other benefits in whatever the Last Messenger of the One Almighty God did or even consumed. According to Hadeeth, the Prophet is said to have recommended the consumption of barley apart from honey, and milk. Talbinah is made from all three ingredients.

During the holy month of Ramadan, when fasting can lead to fatigue, Talbinah has been a go-to food for maintaining energy levels among the Arabs. It also has soothing and restorative properties.

Beyond its religious significance, Talbinah has been appreciated for its nutritional prowess within traditional Arabian medicine. Its simple ingredients – barley and milk – pack a powerful punch of essential vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber.

Unveiling the Powerhouse of Nutrients in Talbinah

Barley, the foundation of Talbinah, is a nutritional powerhouse. It’s an excellent source of dietary fiber, which promotes gut health, keeps you feeling fuller for longer, and aids in weight management. Barley also boasts a wealth of vitamins and minerals, including iron, calcium, zinc, B vitamins, and magnesium. These micronutrients play crucial roles in various bodily functions, from energy production to immune system support.

Milk, the other key ingredient in Talbinah, adds a creamy texture and contributes a significant amount of protein, calcium, and vitamin D. These nutrients are essential for building and maintaining strong bones and muscles.

The combination of barley and milk in Talbinah creates a well-balanced and highly nutritious meal, making it a perfect choice for breakfast, a light lunch, or a pre-bedtime snack.

Unveiling the Health Benefits of Talbinah

1. Weight Management:

Talbinah’s high fiber content makes it a champion for weight management. Fiber helps you feel full for longer, reducing cravings and preventing overeating. Additionally, barley’s slow-digesting nature helps regulate blood sugar levels, further aiding weight control.

2. Boosts Immunity:

Barley is rich in antioxidants, which combat free radicals that can damage cells and weaken the immune system. By consuming Talbinah, you’re providing your body with valuable ammunition to fight off illness and stay healthy.

3. Lowers Bad Cholesterol:

The soluble fiber in barley is known to bind to cholesterol in the digestive tract, preventing its absorption into the bloodstream. This can help lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels and promote overall heart health.

4. Promotes Gut Health:

Dietary fiber, abundant in barley, is essential for promoting gut health. It serves as a prebiotic, nourishing the good bacteria in your gut microbiome, which plays a vital role in digestion, immune function, and overall well-being.

5. Provides Sustained Energy:

Unlike sugary breakfast options that provide a quick burst of energy followed by a crash, Talbinah offers sustained energy. The complex carbohydrates in barley release energy slowly, keeping you feeling energized throughout the morning.

6. Soothes and Nourishes:

The warm and creamy texture of Talbinah, along with its gentle digestive properties, makes it a comforting and soothing food for those recovering from illness or experiencing digestive discomfort.

7. Rich in Essential Vitamins and Minerals:

Barley and milk are excellent sources of essential vitamins and minerals like iron, calcium, zinc, B vitamins, and magnesium. These micronutrients are crucial for maintaining good health and supporting various bodily functions.

8. Customizable and Delicious:

Talbinah’s base recipe is simple and versatile. You can customize it to your taste by adding honey for sweetness, chopped dates for a natural sweetness and fiber boost, or a sprinkle of cardamom powder for an extra layer of flavor.

A Simple Guide to Making Talbinah at Home

Making Talbinah is incredibly easy and requires minimal ingredients and cooking time. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 ½ tablespoons barley flour (finely ground)
  • Honey to taste (optional)
  • Chopped dates (optional)
  • Cardamom powder (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, bring the milk to a simmer.
  2. Gradually whisk in the barley flour, ensuring there are no lumps.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. The mixture will thicken as it cooks.
  4. Remove from heat and adjust sweetness with honey to your preference.
  5. For additional flavor and texture, stir in chopped dates and a pinch of cardamom powder (optional).
  6. Serve warm and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use finely ground barley flour for a smoother texture. If using whole barley groats, grind them into a flour using a food processor or blender.
  • Adjust the milk and barley flour ratio depending on your desired consistency. For a thicker porridge, use slightly less milk. For a thinner consistency, use slightly more milk.
  • Experiment with different toppings like nuts, seeds, or dried fruits to add variety and extra nutrients.
  • Leftover Talbinah can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.

Conclusion

Talbinah is more than just a delicious and comforting porridge; it’s a treasure trove of health benefits. Packed with essential nutrients and dietary fiber, it can be a valuable addition to a balanced diet. Shocking Places In India Where Indians Are Not Welcomed

0

We have often heard and read that during the British era, there was discrimination against Indians. We were not allowed to enter certain destinations in our own country. But what if in 2024, this type of restriction still holds in some places in India?

Surprised, and shocked!!   You read it right. Many places in Independent India still debar Indians to enter. Explore the controversy surrounding these locations and their impact on tourism and society.

Red Lollipop Hostel, Broadlands Hotel Chennai– One is an international standard backpacker hostel in the Mandevali area of Chennai and the other is a quaint British-style property lodge. They proudly claim to hold a ‘No Indian policy’ and will only give admission to international passport holders.

Foreigner-only” beaches of Goa and Puducherry: There are beaches in popular tourist destinations in Goa and Puducherry that discriminate and spills racist behaviour towards Indian citizens. Legally there are no restrictions but local Goans and Puducherry restaurant owners do not allow Indians on some beaches like famous shacks in Arambol Beach, Anjuna Beach, as they think they cause a nuisance for foreigners or gaze lustily at beachwear-clad foreign guests. They have boundaries or roped areas to stop Indians from entering.

Russian Colony, Kundankulam– Kundankulam Nuclear Power Project located in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu has a residential colony that accommodates only Russians. They just say no to the Indian citizens.

Norbulinka Café in Dharamshala: Though it’s located in a picturesque location in Dharamshala amid beautiful gardens and monasteries, this place is strictly denying service to Indians.

This café follows a “Foreigners only policy” so stringently that even any foreigner who looks like an Indian, will be denied entry.

Free Kasol Cafe in Himachal Pradesh- Commonly known as “Mini Israel” in Kasol, the café only serves foreigners, especially Israelites. There are many instances when Indian tourists have claimed that they don’t entertain Indians but are ready to cater to accompanying foreigners, if any.

Sakura Ryokan Restaurant, Ahmedabad– A Japanese cuisine restaurant that serves only Japanese people. Ironically the owner is Indian but he has banned Indians from entering.

Final Words

The very thought of Indians being barred from establishments in their own country is both surprising and appalling. Such practices must be challenged and rectified, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and equality, regardless of their background or origin. Don’t forget to discuss information with your friends and family.

Gautam Gambhir Finally Breaks Silence On India’s Head Coach Job

0

The search for the head coach of India’s cricket team is on and it seems that the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is the only and the best option among the available options in front of the BCCI for this job.

The KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir who played an important role in KKR’s IPL 2024 win has refrained from speaking on the matter of taking the job of India’s head coach but recently during an event in Abu Dhabi when he was asked a question by a student in this regard, he said, “I have not answered this question, although a lot of people have asked me. But I have to answer you now. I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team.
