Anand Mahindra’s ‘baraat’ shoutout from a top Swaraj Tractors in Punjab. As the wedding procession moved on, family members on the tractors danced for the cameras.

When most people think of a baraat or bridal procession, they see guests dancing to the rhythms of joyful music as they move towards the wedding destination. A family in Punjab, on the other hand, took out their baraat on a fleet of 12 tractors.

A video of this unusual wedding procession has gone viral after being shared on Twitter by Sudhir Kumar (@sudhir1544) on March 7. According to the tweet, the wedding took place in the family that owns the Swaraj Tractors shop in Panjab’s Sangrur.

Swaraj Tractors, which was founded in 1974, is credited with manufacturing India’s first indigenous tractor. The agricultural machinery and tractor firm was acquired by the Mahindra Group in 2007.

This isn’t the first time tractors have been used in weddings. Bharti Targe of Madhya Pradesh arrived at her wedding location on a tractor in June of last year. A video of this outlandish bride’s entrance went popular on social media.

Sumit Dhull of Karnal ditched his fancy automobile and drove a tractor to his wedding in December 2020 to express sympathy for farmers protesting the now-scrapped agricultural legislation.
