Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal, currently representing Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025, made history on Thursday, April 24, by becoming the first cricketer ever to hit a six off the first ball of an innings in an IPL match on three separate occasions.
While eight players have managed to clear the boundary with the first ball of an innings in IPL history, the 23-year-old Jaiswal stands alone in achieving this remarkable milestone more than once.
Opening the batting for the Riyan Parag-led Rajasthan Royals against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Jaiswal faced the first delivery of a daunting 206-run chase. Without hesitation, he launched the opening ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar over the ropes for a six.

In a thrilling encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 24, 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their first home win of the season by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 11 runs in Match 42 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Opting to bat first after losing the toss, RCB posted a formidable total of 205 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a stellar 95-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Kohli top-scored with a fluent 70 off 42 balls, while Padikkal contributed a brisk 50 off 27 deliveries. Despite Sandeep Sharma’s efforts, claiming 2 wickets for 45 runs, the RR bowlers struggled to contain the RCB batting lineup.
Chasing 206 for victory, RR’s innings got off to a promising start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal leading the charge. However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the death overs, primarily due to Josh Hazlewood’s exceptional bowling performance. Hazlewood claimed 4 wickets for 33 runs, including crucial dismissals in the 19th over that derailed RR’s chase. Krunal Pandya also played a pivotal role, taking 2 wickets for 31 runs. Despite valiant efforts from the RR batsmen, they fell short, finishing at 194 for 9.
