Battlegrounds Mobile India: After govt lifts ban Krafton’s popular game to return to India

Krafton says that Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) will soon be returning to both Android and iOS platforms. The government had banned the game in 2022, but now has lifted the ban in India.

Krafton developed Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) a game that became widely popular.  The company has now announced that BGMI will soon be returning to both Android and iOS platforms after the Indian government banned the game due to security concerns in July 2022.

Krafton has officially confirmed that the game will soon be making a comeback and will be available for download. The CEO of KRAFTON, Inc. India, Sean Hyunil Sohn, has expressed his gratitude towards the Indian authorities for granting permission to resume operations of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI).

“We are highly grateful,” he stated. The Indian gaming community has been thanked for their support and patience over the past few months. In an enthusiastic tone, he expressed his eagerness to welcome players back to the platform. He underscored the ability of gaming to unite individuals and generate remarkable memories.

Sohn, a representative of Krafton, has reiterated the company’s dedication to the Indian gaming ecosystem. According to Sohn, Krafton is fully committed to supporting the gaming industry in India. The foundation of all efforts made by the individual or group in question has always been India-first, according to their statement.

The speaker emphasized their company’s focus on the Indian gaming industry, working alongside local developers, and implementing advanced technologies to encourage progress and creativity.

According to BGMI, the game achieved a remarkable feat of garnering over 100 million cumulative users in under two years, prior to its ban. According to the studio behind BGMI, the game has played a crucial role in fostering the esports industry in India by providing India-specific events and content.

SPOTLIGHT

Krafton, the creator of popular games like PUBG and BGMI, has confirmed the development of a new game for the Indian market. Further details regarding the game are yet to be revealed.

In a recent statement, Vibhor Kukreti, who serves as the Head of Government Affairs at KRAFTON, Inc. India, expressed his gratitude towards the authorities for granting permission to resume the operations of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI). KRAFTON, Inc., a South Korean organization, has taken measures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and is committed to upholding the law.

The individual stated that they are working tirelessly to ensure that India becomes a leader in the gaming industry by adopting innovative practices and collaborating with the gaming ecosystem to support, sustain, and promote its growth.

BGMI, the popular mobile game developed by Krafton, has amassed a staggering 100 million users in India. However, the game’s future in the country was thrown into uncertainty after it was threatened with removal. This followed the Indian government’s decision to ban another popular Krafton game, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), in 2020.

New Delhi has initiated a crackdown on PUBG, as part of a larger ban on over 100 mobile apps that originate from China. Following a prolonged border standoff with China in Galwan Valley, this move was made.
