Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally put an end to their decade-long drought at the Wankhede Stadium with a dramatic 12-run win over Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 face-off on Monday night. Opting to bat first, RCB piled on a massive 221/5 in their 20 overs and then held their nerve to restrict Mumbai to 209/9, sealing their third win from four games this season.

Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB’s campaign on the road has been flawless so far. They began with a win at Eden Gardens against Kolkata Knight Riders, followed it up by toppling Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, and have now conquered Mumbai at the Wankhede. This incredible run makes them the first team since Kings XI Punjab in 2012 to defeat MI, CSK, and KKR at their respective home grounds in a single IPL season.

The achievement becomes even more significant considering that MI, CSK, and KKR are the league’s most decorated franchises, with a combined 12 IPL titles between them. Both MI and CSK boast five championships each, while KKR has lifted the trophy three times. Among the original eight teams from the IPL’s inaugural season in 2008, RCB, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals remain the only ones yet to clinch the coveted title.

Despite the absence of a trophy in their cabinet, RCB has had its moments on the big stage, having reached the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016. With their 2025 campaign gaining serious momentum, especially on the road, hopes will once again rise among their loyal fanbase that this could finally be the season their team goes all the way.
