Hema Ananth does not know anything about organic farming but now making a good profit every year as an organic farmer.

Can you imagine a shop without a shopkeeper? Well, if you do not believe in this statement you should better go through the story of an organic farmer, Hema Ananth. She has made his possible and running a shop in the organic farming sector. This belongs to Gowripura village, near Hassan district, Karnataka. Every morning she travels to nearly 11 kilometers to help her co-workers for milking nearly twenty odd cows. She collects all the milk and brings it back home to sell the unadulterated milk to customers.

Hema Ananth – an organic farmer

The selling method of milk is quite different from the other shopkeepers. She just put the milk outside of her house without any person appointed for sale or CCTV. All the milk is sold without any staff, every customer honestly put the money just outside of her house, and she collects the money every day after half an hour. This type of honest is remarkable and you will hardly find such an example anywhere else. Hema Anath is also well known for her organic farmer profession.

Routine of Hema Ananth

Apart from this, she takes care of her family and prepares breakfast. After she is done with the household chores, she goes to 30-acre farmlands. There she grows fruits, veggies, and crops. Everything is done through the organic farming method. She collects nearly twenty-five kilograms of organic fruits and vegetables and put it outside of her house for the sale. Hema Ananth this now the most trusted organic farmer. She has fixed customers who just pick the things they need and drop the money. She just put the chart list of the price for the fruits and vegetables. Every customer just drops the money in the box honestly.

Setting an example as Organic Farmer

Hema Ananth has set an example of goodwill and market value to customers. She tells that there were only one or two occasions when the food was stolen. But she never considers this stealing and states that only needy persons are taking food from there and this is her method of helping people. Her customers always pay the right amount and she can easily make money nearly one thousand to fifteen hundred Indian rupees every day from her shop without staff. Indeed, she has many loyal customers who pay all the money at the end of every month.

Value added products

She has expanded the product line and included the other value-added products like coconut oil, turmeric powder, lemon pickles, fresh juice, etc. She took the initiative after talking to her customers who were always complaining about the preservatives in her food items.

Hema Ananth has set an example and her level of expertise has shown the right path to many women. Even she has received many awards for organic farming and best business models. Most of the time, people do not even believe in the fact that at the starting of her business she did not have any idea about organic farming.

Initial struggle

In the starting when she expressed her desire to become a farmer, most of her relatives denied supporting her idea including her husband. The reason was given to the huge requirement of the investment. Now she tells that Mother Nature is the biggest teacher and gradually she updated her skills and learns about growing fruits and vegetables.

Expansion of plan

Hema Ananth said that she met some women who were ready to teach and help her in growing the organic farmer profession. She has learned how to sow, tilled the land, water the plants, and use the cow dung as natural manure for the land. She prefers to stick with the organic method of growing the crops. After the fruits and vegetables, she also learned about the cultivation methods of teakwood, coffee, pepper, and banana plantations. Now she is easily making nearly four lacks per year as an organic farmer.

0

A couple of days prior sad video of a heartbroken older man from New Delhi turned into a web sensation. The man runs a restaurant Baba ka Dhaba in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar region. However, the business had been shut for the elderly couple in this pandemic.

As his video made rounds via online media, people gradually visited his food stall, that he runs with his better half. It earned so much consideration that Baba ka Dhaba was a top Twitter pattern on Thursday. AAP MLA Somnath Bharti, food bloggers, web-based media influencers and numerous others went to Baba ka Dhaba and helped the elderly couple get their business in the groove again.

Never-ending story

The elderly person who runs this Dhaba is Kanta Prasad and has been running this food eatery stall, since 1988 with his wife Badami Devi. 80-year-old Kanta Prasad shared that he and his better half Badami Devi generally began cooking at 6.30 am. The elderly couple is always prepared with the day’s meal by 9.30 am. Dal, curry, parathas and rice are kept in huge dishes to be sold for around Rs 30-50 a plate.

The octogenarian couple initially hails from Uttar Pradesh and in 1961 moved to Delhi when Kanta prasad was 21, seeking a better life in a metro city. Strikingly, this elderly couple were married when Prasad was just five and his child bride was simply thee-years-old. After the couple moved to Delhi with a desire to make their life comfortable, Prasad began to function as a fruit vendor. As time passed and old-age started appearing, he moved to the food business. For quite a long time, the business was moderate. His Dhaba which offers dal chawal, paratha, tea, and so on, couldn’t pull in-crowd.

They scarcely ever built huge profits, yet the pandemic has been destroying for their little business. The elderly couple gets no assistance from their children  – two boy and a girl. Nonetheless, that one video made by blogger Gaurav Vasan did the magic for the elderly couple.

The social media post cast the magic spell

Within 24 hours, Many came forward and offered to help the elderly couple monetarily, while some declared plans for lunch at Baba Ka Dhaba. Among those who tweeted are Bollywood celebrities like Sonam Kapoor, cricketer R Ashwin, IPL team Delhi Capitals and food delivery app Zomato. We are thankful for the community support.” His wife Badami Devi smilingly poses for the photo and says innocently-”During the lockdown period we could sell nothing. We fought to survive but today we are overrun with buyers. We want to bless all those who helped us in this crisis.”

Various twitter it is posted after visiting Baba ka Dhaba- Some said Baba ka Dhaba will now need a waiter in a week as the queues will be increasing day by day.

From domestic help to best selling author

1

Baby Haldar, a domestic maid who turned into a best selling author, was born in the beautiful valley of Kashmir, is a victim of child marriage. She has undergone physical n mental abuse for most of her life.

Baby was abandoned when she was by her birth mother. She grew up at the pity of her cruel father and her stepmother, who compelled her to drop out of school in class 6. She was just 12 when her parents forced her to marry an old man. The innocent child didn’t know even that she was getting married to a man 14 yrs older.

Ending the Abuse

Baby became a mother at the age of 13. So she decided to break the chain of an abusive marriage. She was 25 and a mother of three when Halder left her husband and fled on a train to Delhi with her kids to start a new life.

She started working as a domestic help in numerous homes. She got the job at the home of writer and retired anthropology educator Prabodh Kumar in Gurugram. Kumar is the grandson of Hindi best selling author of all time, genius Munshi Premchand. Baby worked in his home for four years, she cleaned, cooked and swabbed in his home, never speaking a word. While working in his library she remembers how her arms would slow down when she moved toward the professor’s bookshelf.

The professor encouraged Haldar to read books of many best selling authors ranging From Amar Meyebela (My Girlhood) to many other books written by extraordinary authors. He wanted her to read, teaching her the lesson that it is never too late to do what one loves to do. Baby remembers how she felt like  reading her own narrative in the famous novel “ Amar Meyebela” by Taslima Nasreen, another best selling author.

The Life-changing Moment

Once, when Professor Kumar was going on a trip to South India, he brought her a plain notebook and a pen and asked her to write her story. She was reluctant at the first go. When the professor left, Baby started writing her story in her native Bengali dialect. She used to write at night or sometimes between the break-in daily work. By the time the professor returned she had already written about 100 pages. She had penned down memories from her lost childhood, the atrocity of the first night of marriage, becoming a mother at 13 years about her sufferings from labour pains, the scars that damaged her body from years of domestic violence, etc.

The professor was amazed to learn that Baby had written in a book after 20 years. The experience was liberating for her self. Further more, he was in tears after reading the manuscript of a would be best selling author. Halder’s first book, her autobiography, was named as Aalo Aandharior The life less ordinary. He edited the manuscript and even translate it into Hindi.

Recognition

In 2002, Roshani Publishers, a small publishing house in Kolkata, decided to publish it. Aalo Aandhari hit the shelves and starting selling out from day one. It immediately attracted attention and Baby tinted into a best selling author.

The English translation of the same was published in 2006. It became a bestseller. The New York Times marked it India’s Angela’s Ashes. The book of this best selling author, has been translated in 21 local and 13 foreign languages.

Halder till 2012 continued to work in the professor house. She wrote two more books after that. Baby Haldar built a house in Kolkata from her earning. Eshat Roopantar in Bengali is her second book which was also well received by readers. She has written her third book named ‘Ghare Fhehar Path’ (An Autobiographical Narrative in Bengali).

This best selling author said in a recent interview, “My draft for the fourth book is nearly prepared. It is truly the gifts of Ma Saraswati and my Tatus, ”- the name by which the best selling author fondly calls her mentor, professor Kumar.

Baby now a days works at a Sonagachi NGO that helps to improve the lives of sex workers and helps sufferers of trafficking.
